what to do for neck pain

It feels like I have a pinched nerve or something like that. But I take other meds for pain that do not help with my neck. Does anyone do anything that helps them? I do PT, yoga,heat/ice,massage and nothing seems to help. Anyone have luck with muscle relaxes? I also take nerve meds and it doesn't help. Is it bad to ask for something cause all these other things don't work, and I can't get into a chiropractor til February. I actually think the chiro will be a good thing. After 4 babies I think my whole pelvic alignment is off, not to mention my entire body from years of walking weird from the hip. I think I will email my doctors because I was just there and forgot to ask about it...I usually bombard her with questions. It's nice I can just shoot her an email and she usually just emails me back at the end of day.

i have arthritis in my neck, riddled apparently. seems shoulders too. i use a spray has all the good stuff, rosemary oil, emu oil, montana flower, eucalyptus. it is all purpose. rhumatoid, muscle soreness, stiffness, arthritis. look for these ingredients or similar. works fast, refreshing too, as it is in a bottle it is just like a spritz!!! maybe make a tincture or see a natural health shop for ideas. feel better.

Sometimes neck pain originates in a shoulder, especially if u have injured it, or snapped your neck in an injury. If your trapezius muscles are tight it can refer pain to the neck. I have chronic neck pain that is made worse from my shoulder. I found that electric stim, tens units, ultrasound, massage and strengthening of the shoulder have helped. I also discovered my posture made a huge difference with painful flares. I alternate ice & heat, along with a tens unit when I'm in a bad flare. I personally would stay away from chiro if I was in a neck flare. Warm water also helps to relax the tight muscles.

To add to the confusion - Pain from the neck can radiate to the shoulder too. That kind of pain, from nerve, isn't responsive to my TENS, and trigger point injections haven't helped. Neither has pain medicine, relaxers, or PT, For me it's not a sometimes thing, it's constant. I wouldn't go a chiro for anything in the neck. See your doctor. An orthopedic doctor can do some motion tests to see if there is a problem with the shoulder.

A good muscle relaxer can help both your neck & back if you are having spasms. A quick exam by your dr can tell whether or not you have them going on. I have been on them for years & there are many good ones out there. Some find them to be a little sedating which is something you will not want having small children. I can't handle Flexeril for that very reason, it knocks me for a loop & makes me sick at my stomach.

I imagine having to carry the baby & diaper bags & all the things that goes with babies will keep your situation aggravated.

Many of us had some type of neck surgery and will recommend not going to the Chiropractor. I left in worse shape twice. Soma muscle relaxer works great for me but recommend only taking at night (too strong for the day for me). Get an MRI and find out exactly what's going on before going any further. Might want to get a referral to a Pain Management specialist.
