I am sorry SyXx that you are having that issue. I would call again and ask to have the Doctor call you directly. The nurse is not in charge and that was rude. She doesn't issue the medications or make the decisions on your prescribed amounts. Don't let the nurses push you around. Remember they work for you.

I have not experienced exactly what you have but I have been bullied by nursed before. Stand your ground.

I am talking to my GP on Thursday. I am going to ask if she can manage my meds for a few months while I look for someplace closer.

I know that the clinic I want to go said they will intake new patients in about 2 to 3 months. If my GP will take me on, I will look into what I need to do to terminate my contract with my current PM clinic.

What sucks is I am dealing with so much stuff besides being in pain all the time like everyone here. It is stressing me out and I am missing alot of time at work. I started taking zoloft a month ago for anxiety and migraines.

I have not been happy going to this clinic since I started. I am going to talk to my GP, if she says yes, then I will look into what I have to do.

I do plan on seeing the counselor either way, I do not want to get told go talk to this counselor and then just quit without seeing him.

I have a problem with the attitude of this nurse & telling a patient something like what you were told, that is not her decision to make. If she had even bothered to look at your records she would see that you have not ever exhibited any signs of having problems with your meds, but to assume & then tell you what she did, is wrong. My next thought is the dr must be aware of how she dxing his patients, I find it hard to believe this was a first time thing with her, meaning she has done the same with other patients.

One thing I would do is make sure the dr is aware of what she said. I would probably go a bit further & do this in writing to the dr if you cannot get a face to face with him. I know you have not been just real impressed with this clinic & if your GP will carry you until you can get in with the other dr that would be awesome. Let us know how this turns out.

I agree with you. Given you're scripted a psychotropic medication and that was the recommendation, I'd show a willingness to follow through. I'd also say something to the doctor directly about the nurses behavior and put it in writing. Given you're not invested in continuing there, I'd do exactly what you're doing-- talk with your GP and find another doc, hopefully one that you can trust to look at the big picture.

Given you were trying to actually decrease the medications and you were asking to go back up, which was still down from the original dose--she really was unprofessional, way off the mark and way over the line. I'm sorry you got treated that way.

Talked to my GP this morning. She agreed to take over my meds while we get me into a new pain clinic. She told me she has heard several complaints about referrals they have made to my current clinic. She referred me to one that is 20 minutes closer. It looks like they have easier time getting appointments their to, I am able to get in mid next month already, much better than several months. They were voted top 100 in Minnesota. Now I just need to figure out what to put in the letter to terminate my contract with MAPS.

Hearing that makes me glad I have a good clinic that KNOWS me. Cripes, in the first year with them, something happened to a urine sample where it came out with no showing of ANY of my meds but they told me that sometimes by the time the UA which is looked at through a private company rather far away sometimes has had issues so I DID have to deal with coming in about 3 times in one month where my next script and UA showed fine after 1 weeks worth of meds, then had to get script and UA for 2 weeks twice.

What creeped me out about the whole thing is that the doctor told me that something like 60% of their tests did that. I thought those things were a LOT more looked over then 60 right versus the poor poor 40 who showed up wrong when they didn't do anything wrong.

However, I've never shied from doing them, and yeah, I won't lie and say that getting a heads up about the additional cost since they make you pay $20 for the UA test as well isn't kinda nice. But they KNOW me and I spent my first 3 years with them playing the "No Narcotics" line because I had an aunt who ODed. I never, NEVER want to be like she was most of the time. Plus, I'm relatively young and I know I am young. I always thought I'd be living a real life...not working toward a QOL instead at this age.

As for the doctor and/or nurse, I think you know how to strong enough to get what you need for you. I was scared to death when I first learned I had Crohns and then about 2 years later I ended up hitting a hospital repeated over 3 months for about a week long stay each time. Each time I was at this hospital, I was shuffled off to a new doctor of GI. I hated it. They made me feel like I should know what I did wrong to make myself sick when I didn't have a clue. Course, when I was told I had Crohns, it was by the emergency surgeon who did the surgery from the perforation. His sister was the OBGYN who told me I'd probably never have kids following that surgery too. Yep, waking up that day was the BEST! Still, I realized that I wasn't going to let these people treat me like that so I really stood up. I called around and I went to a different hospital to try out a new doc. I walked in and told him straight out that if he is truly so busy no one will return my phone call if I have something wrong then I wanted him to recommend me to someone else then. I also said that if he really wasn't going to care about me as his patient then to send me on to someone else who might. I've been with him since.

Consider each doctor appointment like its a blind date.

I contacted my doctor through their web portal. I asked them specifically what I needed to do. They said the portal is used as binding and will terminate my contract with no issues. I was going to go in to one last psych appointment to follow through, but it snowed 9inches, I was not driving over an hour at 6am to get to an appt.

My regular doctor only works 3 days a week, Monday, Thurs & Friday. Normally not an issue, I am having some really bad pains and it hurts when I breath (contract and expansion of chest). I have seen the doctor here at work a few times and he has filled a few days worth to get me through until my next visit. He knows I dropped my pain clinic, so he hopefully will not have an issue since I have to leave for Vegas tomorrow morning and we all know how flying and sleeping in hotels can effect pain.
