My husband has been having pain in his knuckles for approx 2 weeks. The pain is in his right hand, the first knuckle down from the finger nail on his index finger, the second knuckle down from the finger nail on the ring finger. The pain is not constant. The pain is excruciating when hit. If he's not paying attention and hits his hand on a door jam the pain is crippling. If you squeeze the hand it hurts, and today it started hurting when picking up things. It does not hurt when he makes a fist or puts it straight. He has no loss of movement. There is a bump on one of the knuckles. We went to a doctor and he said it was probably a low grade virus going through his system, should get better on its own. It is not getting better, seems to be getting worse. Doctor is no help, just keeps brushing it off. Don't know where to go to get a second opinion, like a walk in clinic or the hospital? Anyone have any idea what it could be? I was thinking maybe a fracture? Doctor said it wouldn't be arthritis but I don't know...
