Hiya all,

I'm a newbie here, I found the page through Facebook and I'm so relieved to find it.
I've had costochondritis since November 2007 and severe sciatica since January 2011. I've tried everything from paracetamol to morphine, from physio to surgery and now I'm waiting to see pain management on June 26th.
I've just turned 23 and am a single mum of a 2 year old. I've had to give up bar work because of the sciatica so I'm retraining as an accountant through the open university.
Anyway just a bit about me.

Nice to meet you, although I'm sorry about your problems. I am new here as well. This is a wonderful group of people that truly understand pain and can help get you through it. I am a parent as well and the hardest thing for me is picking up my 2 year old son. But I can't help myself, I love him to much to tell him no when he wants to cuddle with daddy. I hope the PM doctor works out for you, but it doesn't sound like you have much help before then. Good luck to you and have a blessed day. Jake

Welcome Georgie to the cp forum at HW and so glad to have you. There's many CP Mom's here some currently with kid's and some of us that raised our kids with Cp but either way your surrounded by ppl who understand the trials. I hope you have a good pm appointment as it sounds as though you have exhausted much of everything else. Just wanted to say hi and welcome.

Thank you both for your replies, um currently taking cocodamol and a vitamin D supplement as latest blood tests show my vitamin D levels are to low.
Jahutt01 aren't 2 year old boys exhausting lol but they are so cute you can't resist cuddles!!
Its great to hear everyone is so friendly I had no idea there was a forum like this, I could actually cry with joy.

We have all been there, the sheer relief of finding ppl who get this life and all the issues that comes with it, priceless!

I am new here as well and welcome. The reasons my be different but what we do have in common is chronic pain and I have felt supported and understood. Rufous

Hello Costogirl & welcome to the chronic pain forum. Glad you found us but sorry you have to be here. As the others said, one thing we have in common here is chronic pain.

What type of surgery did you have? Did the surgery give you any benefit at all? Its always tough to go through something like surgery & not get the relief we had hoped for.

Hopefully when you see the PM dr he can give you some help. It sounds like you are in much need for some type of relief. Many of here at this forum are under the care of PM drs. If they are a good one, they can really help, since treating pain is their specialty.

Welcome to HW.I hope Pain Management goes well for you.

I very happy with my current PMD.I'm prescribed MSContin 30 mg x 2 and Morphine IR 15 mg x 4.

It seems to cover my pain pretty well.

Hiya Susie

I had a disectomy on my lower 2 discs on April 23rd 2014. I felt so much relief until the August when I actually went back to a normal life, lifting my son, having a bath, doing the food shop the simple things without expecting someone to do my food shop or to lift my son. Dont get me wrong I was careful but that particular surgery didn't work long term.

You are now amongst good folks who care about one another.  I'm sorry you're hurting, doll baby, but glad you found us.  We all understand.

I love the talk of your children. (you, too...Jake) I adore children and believe they are the life blood of us all.  I wanted at least 2, but was never able to conceive, due to endometriosis.  I've had many nieces and nephews for whom I've been a mom. They've grown up, graduated Ole Miss, married and made me some great nieces and nephews.  I LOVE THEM to pieces. It's not the same, though, as having our own. I mourn the loss of what would now be my grandbabies.  I'd be a wickedly awesome granny!?  My nieces/nephews tell me I'm just a big ole kid.

Find your JOY in your babies.  They grow up in a blink!  Find the support you need here.  We're listening.

Welcome, welcome, welcome! Gosh, I love hearing from all the newcomers. Warms my heart to have the companionship…even though I don't care for what brought you all here, it's good that your here. Nobody has to do this deal alone, yaknow?

I'm Mel, and I'm here cuz my leg hurts. LOL. I like that I gain perspective by being here. You all have been through so much....we all have. But by golly, you keep doing what ever is put in front of you. Brave souls, you are. I'm proud to be a part of such an awesome community.

Welcome! I hope you can find some relief from the emotional pain as well as the physical pain--chronic pain tries to cheat us out of having the life each of us deserves. We don't have to let it, eh! :-)
