completely miserable after procedure

I am so sorry that you are feeling so horrible xxxxxx I have not had that procedure but I do understand nerve pain. I know relaxing is so difficult! Especially when you are in so much pain and feel like the doctor is ignoring you. I can make a couple of suggestions that I have used in the past and I hope they are helpful.

1, nausea, simple old time recipe that my G-gma use to use on us. When I was younger I thought it was stupid and bought over the counter things but I now swear by it. Take one cup of white rice and put it on the stove with six cups of water, Yes six. Boil it till the rice is tender and drink the water small sips at a time. The starch in the water will help with the nausea. I have used this faithfully with my family for over 20 years now. Sad I didn't listen sooner though I am sure my G-gma is now laughing at me from heaven lol.

2, Ice packs. If you can stand it get ice loads of ice. This will bring down any irritation you may have and help with the sweating. Personally this bothers the nerve in my arm but we do use it on the football field with the kids when they are having nerve pain.

He should have given you an ice pack in the office and had you sit or lye down for a few minutes and then sent you home with instructions to use an ice pack on and off for at least a day. Don't use heat for 2 days!

I know to come with a large, good ice pack with real ice when I go in for ablations. I have some great ones I've saved from hospital adventures. They have a lining like thin cloth and I put them right on my skin.

No bath for a couple of days either!

You shouldn't be having sweating. If that hasn't stopped by now you need to be seen. Do you have anything available for nausea?

Thanks, everyone. I've been using ice since I got home. I've got a lot of really nice ice packs the hospital gave me after my shoulder surgery. I'm still hurting a lot despite taking pain meds and muscle relaxer as ordered. The nausea is still here and I'm still sweating a lot.

I do have the sweating reaction to steroid injections. It lasts a couple days and I take benadryl to combat it. I have been trying the benadryl with this but with the nausea I'm not sure how much I'm keeping down.

I tried the rice water this morning. That seems to be helping. Maybe with that I can keep stuff down and start feeling better. I called the Dr and his nurse said she would have him call me back asap. I'm trying to be as comfortable as possible with my huge tabby cat cuddling cause he knows I don't feel ok.

Call your Doctor and get him to call you in some Phenergan.

The suppositories would definitely work the best.

He called back very quickly and even gave me his cell number. He prescribed the phernergren suppositories and xanax. He said xanax would help with the sweating and he also prescribed a stronger pain medication.

I had a tough time getting someone to take me to get them but about an hour ago my ex husband picked them up for me. I took everything as ordered and am just now starting to feel a little better. I'm using my ice packs, too.

My pm Dr wants me back in on Monday but he said to take it very easy. Luckily, this weekend is a dad weekend for the kids so they will be gone until Sunday night. I only have to worry about my herd (I have 4 kitties) for the weekend. I'm planning on a lot of sleeping. The pm said to call if anything changes.

I am so glad that you found some relief !!!!!! Good for him (Doc) giving you his numbers. I am so so glad! Hopefully by Monday after you have taken all of the meds for over a 24 hr period you will be a better. Thankfully your ex was nice enough to get the meds for you. So glad for you that you've gotten what you need. Hopefully the kitties will be in tune with you and not require a lot from you for a few days.

I have a really good relationship with my second (and last!) Ex husband. We started out as good friends and I think that helped. Unfortunately, the kids' dad and I don't have that. He's very angry and bitter despite it being 8 years.

I'm still feeling kind of gross. Its like that really worn out feeling after a serious illness. I'm still too hot but the sweating has decreased. I'm hoping more time will help me get more comfortable. The pain is still serious. The new meds have brought it to a 7, which is OK.

The cats seem to be busy. I live where my front windows face a pond. Geese have taken up residence and they are driving the cats crazy. Lol. They are perched in the windows. Normally, they all sleep with me so hopefully the geese wear them out so there's no crazy hyper time tonight.

Other news, my beautiful boy hit his first home run!!! I hate that I missed it. I'm so proud of him. He made his daddy bring him by after the game so he could "check on mama".

I've always had pets. Growing up we had cats dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, and even sheep. I even had a Himalayan, Larry, and a Siamese, Katie. Such beautiful cats. Now I have a black Norwegian Forest cat, he was a stray that someone attacked with a weed eater. They actually chopped about a third of his tail off. He is the friendliest cat I have ever owned and is named Bernie. Then I have two tabbies that I have raised since they were tiny babies, Hunter and Mojo. Our last kitty was another stray tabby, Ellie Mae. They have been obsessed with the geese and been pretty good. Bernie, Mojo, and Ellie like to play and chase each other all over so they can entertain themselves. Hunter is my cuddle buddy.

My kids are heading to a play with their dad. I spoke to them this morning. Their dad has cats, which just had kittens. My daughter is dying to convince me to get one. I think 4 is more than enough.

I'm still hurting but its not as bad. I'm going to take it very easy and the other ex husband brought me some groceries today. So I'm all set to just relax.

Sounds like your finally recovering from this reaction, make. a note of this and make sure it gets recorded in you medical file for future reference so this can be avoided. As The next reaction could be more serious so take care and precautions before anymore procedure...they usually start a benadryl drip for me in recovery to avoid reactions..

The reason I'm guessing that is that the Xanax actually relaxes that whole region.

I get chest pains and tightness in my throat.I've had a Heart Cath so I know there's nothing wrong with my heart.

I take a Xanax and relax until it goes away.

I got stuck in the Sciatic Nerve during a "procedure" at my previous PMD.For 49 days I was in agony.

I'm glad your PMD is trying to help you.

Nerve Pain is so much worse than anything else.

Oh yes, the stealing that still takes place at the table even though it's only himself and me....usually it's mushrooms...and it's always me doing the stealing. LOL
I'm thinking the suggestion to try xanax and trying to relax is a good one. But I'll also encourage you to check base with your physician. He gave you the number for a reason, know what I mean?

I'm glad things have calmed down some. It's awesome you have such a responsive physician.
I'm hoping you have a stress free and less painful Sunday.
