Hello,
I have chronic pain after 4 back surgeries from 1990-2001.I have been on Fentanyl patch for over 10 years, currently using the 100mcg patch evry 48hrs. and percocet 10/325 for break through pain.well I am about
approaching end game as far as my options for real relief ,because the percocets dont do much. I am always in pain ranging from a 6-10 level.
I am looking for advice or experiences from people who have the Pain Pump implanted. Has it helped a lot. Is it worth getting it done. I have a couple real concerns. First I have heard that it can be real painful when they empty it so they can refill it. I am also concerned how much discomfort you have with the pump inside your body, this is a real concern for me as far as the discomfort when trying to sleep or sitting, ect..
I dont know if my concerns are valid or if they are reality. I am just very afraid that once it is in I am stuck with it. I dont understand why they cant leave the pump outside the body like they do with the Diabetic pump people have to wear. Is it possible to have the pump without having it implanted. Also are you put under during the procedure.
Please help me with my concerns and answer the questions I dont know. ?
Thank You
