Hi Leila. Sorry I haven't been in for a few days and missed the original update!
I've been praying for your dad, for your whole family.
Glad to hear there was a good outcome for the ganglionectomy. Are they using the scar pad? Is she doing any physical therapy for it? Don't forget that sun block or cover up!
I agree with taking meds before 'work'. I take my Tramadol before shopping as long as someone else is driving. If I have to drive myself and wait to take it till I get home, I have to use twice as much and it doesn't do the whole job! That old saying "An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure." is so right!
The garden report is as follows: 9 days ago, the dogs broke the diverter on the outside spigot clean in half! The part that was still screwed onto the spigot would NOT unscrew! Not for me, not for Lisa, not for my neighbors son, not for my plumber friend! So, for about 4 days, I had to water EVERYTHING using a one gallon pump! The closest way to describe the pain in my left ring and pinky fingers were similar to the pain from stubbing one's toe! That was the hand I used to 'pump'. The pain in the right wrist/hand from carpal tunnel from operating the water release mechanism was horrible! Of course, repeatedly having to bend over to fill the jug and then carry it to the plants left me in such a world of hurt in my lower back! Once I got my check, I went and bought an adapter for the kitchen sink faucet so I could hook up the hose there and get it all watered, but at a lower pressure. Thank goodness I have a 100 ft hose!
Now, for the good news......A) all of the plants survived! and B) I sat down in front of the spigot with a little hack saw and after about an hour, I was able to cut the old fitting off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, I simply switch back and forth between the 2 hoses, depending on what is being watered! I had completely forgotten about the hack saw, until another neighbor asked if I had one because he had to cut a lock off of a chain!
I bought some peach colored sun flower seeds. I cannot wait to see how they come out! I also planted the cosmo seeds I won from the 'clean up' contest. I also added 3 cleome, 2 penstemon and a delphinium and canna. I still want a black eyed susan vine and a rose of Sharon!
The honeysuckle are in bloom and combined with the wild roses across the street, the fragrances are practically intoxicating! My garnet rose bush seems to be holding up well against the black spot fungus that plagues are soil here. This year, I trained it up a lattice trellis on the one side of the back door. The other side has a yellow trumpet vine on it, that I hope will give me blooms this year. The Iris and azalea are finished with their part of the show. The tiger lilies have their long necked buds stretching for the sun. The rose campion is punctuating the end of the property with their hot magenta blooms topping the gray green foliage. The burgundy scotch broom is fading, the yellow baptista and chocolate baptista are stunning! After a 'weeding session' I have discovered, to my great delight, that the crepe myrtle I was sure was dead is putting up new growth after all! Last year I left it standing bare, since it held a praying mantis nest. This year, I simply broke down all of the dead branches but didn't dig up the roots. So glad!
I will continue to keep you in my prayers Leila. Peace be with you.
