Hi, about one in ten people get a reaction to injectable cortisone that is the result, as I understand it, of the cortisone crystallizing. The effects can be reduced somewhat by getting ice on the injection site ASAP and continuing to ice 20 min on, 20 min off for the first 48-72 hrs as needed. IF the injection works for you it's worth it, if it doesn't it's not. I've been forced to suffer dozens by a pain mgt Dr., not one of which did any good at all, but every 2 years or so I need on in my shoulder. The ortho does those and they work, still hurts like heck for 3 days, but after that it's fine.
