Costochondritis chest pain - pain relief / cures?

Costochondritis is an inflammation of the cartilage that joins your ribs to your breastbone (sternum). It's pretty agonising and can be mistaken for a heart attack.
I have experienced Costo pain for about 3 months now, chest pain, really painful sternum pain, pain in my back between shoulders, tenderness when i press on the rib joints, experienced cracking of the sternum and generally feeling unwell, also pain when breathing.
I have had 3 drs tell me I have Costo and had a chest X-ray which didn't show anything sinister, even still its hard not to worry theres something else going on (especially as I deal with severe anxiety, panic attacks and agoraphobia) because it feels like something is really wrong with the heart or lungs! But I have been told it's costo from a physical exam.
I have been clutching to a hot water bottle for the last 3 months and tried NSAID's I am also currently dealing with silent reflux and chronic cough due to reflux (which doesn't help the costo at all!!) so want to lay off the pain meds.
I would love to hear from people who have managed to relieve their pain, or simply from others who deal with Costo.

No I haven't seen a lung dr, I am housebound with agoraphobia which makes things difficult, I managed to get to my local hospital for a chest X-ray which was the first time i'd left my house in years and had to do so with the help of lots of diazepam.

I am actually being referred to an ENT dr for tests as the dr thinks lots of symptoms I've been feeling over the last few months are due to silent reflux, (lump in throat, chronic cough, sore throat, pains in neck and chest) but on top of that I have also been told I have Costo.

I have had a d dimer blood test at home to check for dvt/blood clots which came back clear, the dr listened to my lungs, checked my blood pressure, used an oximeter to check my blood oxygen saturation levels and I had the chest X-ray as I was on birth control at the time I started experiencing chest pain and breathing pain, I stopped taking it as I got too scared to be on it.

Hopefully theres nothing wrong with my lungs, although I have still worried about it, hopefully its all down to silent reflux.
