I have been waiting to write to see if I will feel better.
Early last week I woke up with neck and arm pain again. Don't know what I have done. I am only lifting about 5 pounds. So just like the original incident in January, I just woke up hurting. Pain is going down right arm, across shoulder blade in front and back. Popping, clicking in the spine area near c6/c7, maybe t1. Taking motrin. Calling surgeon in the morning to get in, was suppose to see him end of September for 3 month post op visit.
Since the popping feels lower than my surgery was, but the pain areas of shoulder and arm are the same as prior to surgery. I just don't know what to think. I feel best laying down, as soon as I sit or stand pain starts. Was hoping it would go away last week.
Will let you guys know what is up.

Hi Vernita, Boy that sure doesn't sound good! With the pain going down your arm, is it also going into your hands and fingers? Please be careful until you can get this checked out by your doctor or surgeon! My first fusion was done at C6/7 and I had extreme pain from my elbow down my arm into my hand and it really affected my last two fingers! Anyway as you well know this is nothing to mess around with! I hope your doctor or surgeon can get you in and you can get this checked out really really soon!

Thanks everyone. Just really kept hoping I slept wrong and it would go away. It has become worse over the weekend. The pain is down to my ring and pinky fingers on the right. Same as before surgery. The popping, clicking sensation is new. I'm worried it may be lower level. Sure hope it isn't the implant. I could sure use a break from all this.

Hey Vernita, I am late getting on here but I am hoping that you find out this has been some sort of a glitch in the road & that everything is ok.

We are all anxious to see what the dr thinks.

Will see my surgeon late Thursday. X-ray taken this morning. I am right back to the level of pain I had prior to my surgery. Taking motrin and aspirin.

Careful that you don't get some gi issues taking these two OTC meds, both can be hard on the stomach.

Thanks Susie. I'm trying to just take the motrin, but sometimes I need an aspirin in between. I take prilosec daily.
2 more days and I see the doctor. I doubt if the x-ray will show much except show the implant placement. I feel this is lower level. Probably need another MRI and that's another big expense upfront.
I'm just getting hit hard financially this year.
I hope everyone is doing alright.
I am looking forward to fall coming soon. Maybe less heat and rain here in Fl. I know we have gone way past the normal yearly rainfall for the year, and still have the rest of the year to go.

Saw the surgeon. X-ray showed implant placement is perfect. New problem appears to be c7/t1. Insurance will not cover MRI until the problem has existed for 1 month. So 3 more weeks before he can place order for it. Gave me prescription for prednisone and motrin 400. I suspected it was lower because of the popping. This is the area he had told me before had suspicion of may be problem in future, he really felt it would not occur. Well problem has appeared sooner rather than later. Looks like this whole year is going to be painful.

O that's not good! So sorry. Hope that prednisone and motrine work very well for you!

Ditto to what Abilene says. I know you are upset & rightfully so, but try to relax & hopefully the steroids will kick in & do their job.

I wonder if hammering in my implant caused this level to fail, when he had told me it probably wouldn't fail during the rest of my life.
Keeping my fingers crossed I get relief.
I don't have any labor day plans. Wandered around my friend's antique shop today, so that's my big outing for the weekend.

My thinking is no, I think if that was the culprit you would have had problems immediately. I know you have a problem in that area but if the surgery caused this as soon as the post op pain was pretty much subsided this would have become known right then. You did so well right away I have to wonder if this is just a speed bump you have hit. Perhaps a wrong movement & things have become irritated. At least this is what I am hoping & thinking.

Yes you are right, I should have felt something sooner right after the surgery. I was doing so well. Even the post op pain was mild.
I have been so cautious since the surgery, no lifting anything over 10 lbs. Guess we will know more after the MRI next month.
My x-ray showed an excellent placement of the implant. Several views taken with flexion and extension of the range of motion I have. I am really still pleased with the results.

It looks like it's getting close to the time when you'll be able to get an MRI to see what's going on. I really hope the problem isn't major and that further surgery won't be necessary. Let us know how you're doing, O.K.? Sending good thoughts to you.
