Earlier this year while working for a temp agency I was injured. My shirt had gotten caught by a greaser spindle wrapping my arm tightly compressing a nerve and bruising the bone. It was discovered that (at the time) I had trouble manipulating smaller objects and holding things in odd ways but I was still signed off by the doctor as "OK to work". I no longer work for the temp agency.

Now months later today I was working on my pickup and had to hold a ratchet at an odd angle. My arm and hand suddenly cramped up and hours later I can still feel pain in my hand! Not sure if I should go back to the Occ. Health center that dealt with it the first time, regular doctor, or a specialist. Suggestions?

First things first, contact the workers comp insurance carrier that handled your case the first time. This is a recurrent problem from the original injury.

Then, find a good workers comp lawyer. Make sure he/she understands that you need to be seen by a neurologist.

Hello & welcome to the chronic pain forum. Be prepared for a real battle in getting the worker's comp insurance to agree to you seeing a dr & them paying for it. Usually if a person gets injured & does not have continuous care for the injury & comes back several months later needing medical attention the first thing the insurance company will do is try to say that you have reinjured yourself some where else. I worked for attys for over 20 yrs & saw this very thing. Since each state has different laws concerning worker's compensation claims I would consult with an atty that handles worker's comp & see what they think you should do.

I would discuss with the atty about getting you in with a specialist, perhaps someone that specializes in upper extremities. You want to make sure that your shoulder is ok considering how the injury occurred.

Well went to the doctor and got diagnosed with with carpel tunnel syndrome :/

Hey RandomGuy.Welcome to HW.

Did the Doctor think the injury was the cause?

I hope you get some relief and are treated well by your Doctor.

Most here are in Pain Management and have seen countless Doctors over the years.

I couldn't ask for better treatment from my Doctors.It wasn't always like this.

She didn't say. Just got put onto some pills got told to call back in a few weeks if pain don't clear up.

RG, I suggest that you do a google search for carpal tunnel syndrome & go to a site like the Mayo Clinic & read about how a person gets carpal tunnel syndrome. That should explain well enough for you to know whether its work related or not.

Did a little research and have mixed feeling on what it could be. Even with Naproxen it hurts badly at times. Have not started the other medication since its supposed to "wire me" needless to say not a good mix with bus driving. Gonna test it during the weekend and see how bad the effects are.

What did your Doctor prescribe you,if you don't mind?

Just curious.I take Morphine daily.

Naproxen and some other pill...will take a look later.

Kinda odd, received a phone call from a lawyer I contacted back when the incident first occurred and never heard back from. Guy is a good local, helped a few of my Grandma's friends get approved for disability. Gonna call back tomorrow maybe take some time in between my routes and get all my papers in order and meet next week.
