Lost and depressed

I've been having a painful past yr with what my Dr says is my ulnar nerve in my left arm along with my grape muscle, its tingling, it aches, and it radiates down my whole left upper quadrant into my mid back along the front of my chest over top of my breast. I've had 1000 ekgs, stress test, holder monitor and all and my heart is healthy. I haven't had any damage to my arm at all!! It hurts my jaw and my neck, gives me headaches and more. I used valiums, icy hot, kinesto tape and even a copper fit for t elbow, frustrated and annoyedy, its interfereing with work and soon I have a nerve test done. Has anyone heard of such a thing!?

Oh yea we have heard of such a thing! In fact most here suffer from some type of nerve related pain from various sources and that's the most complicated and frustrating pain to treat and control. Sorry your suffering from such pain.

The nerve study should tell more and many times the area of pain is not the area of damage or disease since the spinal cord holds all nerves many times this is the point of origin. Cranial nerves that supply all areas of the entire body pass through the cervical spine and many times this will be the problem not the arm itself but the point of origin for the ulnar nerve.

Hopefully the nerve study will shed some light and allow for better treatment decreasing the pain issues.

Sweetred, I have permanent nerve damage to the ulnar nerve from an injury. The E.M.G. will show where the problem begins and where it ends. This is such important information! It is not the most comfortable test but doesn't take long at all. Mine was done lying down on my belly, with my head turned away from the affected side. I've had others done sitting up but recommend the lying down one! Ask if you can be in that position. Some of the zaps can bring some tears so have a tissue or two with you before you start.

As for relief...massage of the muscles around the nerve path are helpful. Take the time to shake out your arms every so often (10 minutes helps me if I'm keeping my elbows bent for long). Warm soaks in Epsom salts have helped too. I've heard there is a brace you can wear while you sleep, but I have not used one myself.

I try to avoid pushing anything heavy as my right ulnar nerve is now popping out of it's place too. It rolls over the point of the bone like the one on the left did after an injury to that area.

Hi Sweet & welcome to the forum. Hopefully these guys have put your mind at some ease now. Nerve issues are something else to deal with. With that being said hopefully the EMG can pinpoint what is going on. You mentioned being on a computer alot at work, this can be the culprit if it turns out its the ulnar nerve. Check your posture while on the computer & put no pressure on the elbows.

Just a thought, but a lot of us have our computer keyboards too high. If you happen to be able to find a really old desk with a typewriter shelf, it might help in the future.

Keyboards should never be at desk height. It's a mistake everyone makes. Holding your hands, arms, shoulders up too high contributes to a lot of pain, even in or from the spine.you can add a up pullout shelf for the keyboard if it's a desktop machine. They're made for mixer stands, and I have one for my sewing mâché.

Also, you shouldn't have to look down at a screen. If the screen is too low it can cause problems also.

I'm typing on a iPad lying down, which isn't great.

I definitely sympathize,empathize,and all of those with anyone suffering Nerve Pain.

A former PMD stuck me in the sciatic nerve with an injection.Worst pain ever for 49 days.

I can't imagine that everyday.

Hrvoje yes I can move my head at all angles. Now its my right arm , I have a nerve test on Monday and they just so happen to cancel my insurance smh I'm so upset and in pain. It radiates to my jaw, middle back , head and breast bones, I'm tired of being in pain and feeling weird all day. I wish it was a home remedy. Imma try to wrap my arms in towels

Yes they did an MRI on my neck and seen nothing compresses but then months later, my Dr seen that my spine was straight instead of curved and said it could be because I always have pain and I'm tensing my shoulder to ease the pain. Idk but I'm always having brain fogs and slight headaches/lightheadedness.

I'm in a similar battle. My chest pain and headache and cold sweets the doc thinks is an anxiety attack on top of the pain I'm feeling with my ulnar nerve and pain between the shoulder blades. Everyone has different symptoms with anxiety attacks and they can be painful too. Might be something to look into until you can find the underlying cause with the rest.
