Thanks for the kind words, everyone. My two dogs and I are up at our place at school now for the rest of the week. I think it is good for all of us to get away, although I felt bad leaving my mom at home alone with her one remaining dog so soon after Piper died. Piper was her dog, and with me and my two dogs gone, and my dad working extremely long hours, I know that it is going to be a tough week for her and Zoe.
Countrydad, I also have a goiter and thyroid nodules, as well as numerous enlarged lymph nodes in my neck. My endocrinologist was concerned about
some of my nodules, so she sent me to a radiologist who specializes in thyroid ultrasonography thinking that they'd probably have to biopsy the nodules and the lymph nodes, because they might be cancerous (I have a history of radiation exposure from working around xrays without a thyroid shield, so I am at risk). Thankfully in my case, the radiologist was able to determine that changes were characteristic of lymphocytic thyroiditis (probably autoimmune, although my blood work has yet to show it). But the good thing about
thyroid cancer, if that is what you have, is that it is extremely treatable. So think positive. As scary as it is to have to go through surgery (especially your first), and to have the possibility of cancer looming over you, chances are good that whatever the outcome, you'll be okay! Hang in there & good luck with surgery!
