I know this is an old thread, but recently a new post was added, so I'll continue this here and hope that people see it.
I have FMS, osteoarthritis, etc., etc. My knees are bad, but I choose to not get a replacement. Intermittently through the past several years, I've had times when my butt hurt, just to sit. That would come and go.
I've also, for years, had peripheral neuropathy down both legs and pain in my anterior thighs. But starting about a month ago, everything has worsened badly. I'm sure going into winter makes things worse. As my doc says to me, "You're deciduous"......since I get worse every Fall.
Anyhow.........Now I have pain in both "cheeks", and very low back. The pain radiates down into my thighs and especially down the lateral sides of each leg. Sounds to me like SI. I don't think piriformis syndrome would be bilateral.
I'm curious what kind of doc you all got the best results with in trying to diagnose this condition? That area seems to be not-so-popular. Would it be best to see a pain management doc at a back clinic? I've gone to a Brain/Spine place in the past for a ruptured L2/3 disc, and I'm thinking the pain management people there would be a good place to go?
Are the symptoms of the SI joint being too loose different than those of it being too tight?
Also, I'd like to throw in that I'm wondering if, since my system is so funky and way too sensitive, if this drastic increase in pain everywhere could be from having started Escitalopram (Lexapro) about 2 months ago? It's very frustrating to have an unusual human system, since docs aren't real flexible and don't always understand that we can be really different from most people.
Thanks!
