Diclofenec & muscle weakness

Mom, you may want to call your pharmacist & ask him about the muscle weakness. They know medications better than drs do. I know some folks have had some stomach issues with it.

Well I have been praying and it came to me last night that I was taking potassium vitamins before all this new medicine changes and then it dawned on me that this diclofenec is diclofenec potassium and that might be causing the weakness, nausea and tired. Tired is kind of hard to say because I get that anyway. So I stopped the vitamins. My daughter who is studying nursing and my nurse friend said I should be fine but it's scary.

No, it was the old PM doctor and she didn't ask about anything since last year. She didn't ever spend more than about 5 minutes with me. Since the first appt. I had told them about them about being put on topamax through email and birth control and I hadn't thought about the potassium at all. It wasn't intentional and I had asked my daughter about taking it before I started. It had to with the birth control they had put me on, because it can lower your potassium. I'm just a mess I know. That's why I am going to see a regular PCP MD before I see another PM. I'm just trying to get by until then. I know you all probably think I am crazy. I just get through one day at a time. I suffer from PTSD, anxiety, depression, as well as the other. My kids I was with for several years, from the time I was 18 mentally abused me and then groomed me along with my daughters and then abused them physically/sexually until my oldest was 14. But I won't get into that here..so suffice I'm a mess. I'm sorry for everything!

Before you embark on establishing yourself with a new pain management physician you need to establish yourself and get settled with a trusting primary care doctor.

You need to have a physician sit with you and spend time listening to your narrative + receive a comprehensive physical exam + a review of all of your current medications and over the counter supplements.

Your problem is less that you need to go back on your prior pain medication and more that you and a PCP Need to untangle the web of medications that you are taking and look at your presenting symptoms to see what underlying condition(s) may be at play.

Some of your distress may be due to the interactions between medications that you are taking. Birth control medication is not benign and affects other aspects of the endocrine system beyond sex hormone levels.

Your prior exposure to corticosteroids leaves open the possibility of adrenal gland and cortisol disruption. Fatigue is a primary finding.

Begin with a PCP before you leap back into pain management. In your current state of grasping at straws, you run the risk of doing something misguided that would jeopardized a signed pain contact. - leaving you at the same point that you are now.

No, I'm not having surgery. I had a shoulder surgery last year. But nothing at this time thank goodness. At least not yet. lol

As far as being expensive, I know finances are individual for each person. But one MRI without insurance is over $1,000. One new patient visit with a specialist $450 or more.

I have had extensive medical care that would have bankrupt me without the fact that I have always made it a point to have comprehensive medical insurance. Costs associated with medical care and pharmaceutical drugs have grown exponentially since the 1980's and beyond.

Each state provides what are called "insurance navigators" to guide people in the selecting a medical insurance plan off of the open exchange and determining eligibility for federal assistance toward premium reimbursement or MediCaid eligibility. Working with an insurance navigator will not cost you a penny - the expenses of providing the navigators is collectively borne by the insurance industry providers.

I urge you to take advantage of the Affordable Care Act and expanded MediCade and contact an insurance navigator to hand-hold you theough the process.
