While I do have cervical dystonia I have not had Botox for it. I have done quite a bit of reading about
Botox & so far it sounds pretty promising. Botox is being used for so many different medical issues these days & with success.
What kind of a dr has recommended this for you? Keep in mind when they first start the injections they start at a low dose & gradually increase the dose if needed. Also, I understand that there is a chance the first injection may not work but the 2nd one may do the trick. I cannot say that you will be able to go medication free, it all depends on how well you respond to the Botox. Certainly worth considering.
Take care.

Thanks straydog,
I have been seeing a Neurologists for 7 yrs now. I have read Botox has been very successful in a lot of medical procedures all so. I want to do the Botox cuz the Meds aren't working anymore. I all so have fibromyalgia and the pain is quite bad. I think if I could get my Dystonia setteled down it would make a bit of difference. I think maybe at this point I'm going to try it. I guess it wouldn't hurt.
How long have you had your Dystonia? Did it come on gradually or was it from a head trauma? I figured mine was from head trauma when I was younger. I fell down the stairs a lot. I was not diagnosed until I was in my late 40's. I'm now 60 and I need to try something different for this problem. It really tires me out a lot.
Hope you are not suffering much and I have my email address posted in my profile if you want to talk.
Take care

D A, I think it may well be worth a try at least try 2 injections, in the event the first one does not work. It is given every three months. Be sure your neurologist gets approval for it as it is very expensive.
I have 2 levels in my neck that are bad & injuries to the neck. Surgery was an option in the early 40's which I declined. Over time the dystonia came along. Currently I am on pain for pain medication for that & other issues, plus I take 60mg of Baclofen a day. It is not perfect but better than nothing. I am quite stooped over & holding my head up & moving at the same time is impossible.
Please keep us posted on how you are doing. Take care.
