I've been wearing a back brace for the last 6 mo, since the start of my back surgeries, and I can relate. I'm also 12 wks out from my last surgery now, and the neurosurgeon is finally letting me start bending and twisting & taking the brace off now, as long as I'm not doing anything strenuous. Besides muscle tension & pain, I've also noticed some crunching and clicking with movement, especially when I first start moving. I had the same issues with my shoulders after each surgery and period of immobilization in a sling, too. It is pretty normal after a period of prolonged immobilization, particularly when there is still post operative inflammation, etc. I would not worry about it unless it is painful. Some muscle pain and tension like I am experiencing is normal/to be expected, as well as some pain in the spine/at the op-site, but it should not be severe or sharp. I would be careful moving around too much without your brace until you get clearance, though. And then when you do resume movement, go slow/don't try to regain your full range of motion at once.
