I am new to this forum and to frozen shoulder. I was diagnosed about 5 weeks ago after having shoulder pain for about 3 months. I do have fibromyalgia but I do not have any of the other predisposing conditions. I did have a little trouble casting my fishing pole about 5 monts ago for which I saw the doctor for and was told I had a little tendonitis. The pain got progressively worse and my ROM started to become more limited. My primary finally sent me for an MRI where I found out there was a labral tear. She sent me to an orthopedic surgeon who said I have frozen shoulder. He gave me a steroid injection and sent me to physical therapy. The pain at night is excruciating and I have barely slept in weeks. Pain medication does not do anything. Most recently I have developed cramping pain in my arm that travels to my hand. My hand has also started to swell and appears slightly red and warm. I am so new to this and am having trouble finding info on line. Has anyone else experienced this kind of symptom? I cant find anything about the cramping and swelling. I will be making an appointment but that takes forever. Thank you for letting me join.

Beachlover, sorry to hear about the frozen shoulder and other complications. My wife was diagnosed with a frozen shoulder about 3 years ago. She got to the point she could not lift her arm and had so much trouble sleeping. After seeing me struggle with chronic pain, surgeries and all the medications, she was not wanting to even continue to see her doctor. She finally had injections, physical therapy, ice/heat treatment and we isolated her arm and shoulder especially at night. It was a painful recovery as you can attest to but she finally regained the use of her arm and now has no remaining pain or complications. Occasionally she gets a pinch and she is careful not to lift too much especially above her shoulder. I hope you and your doctor find a way to address the pain, cramping and swelling. Let us know how it turns out.

Fatherjohn, Thank you for the kind words. I am so glad your wife has recovered and hope to one day as well. This is the most painful thing I have ever endured. I am wondering if anyone else has had swelling and redness of there hand on the affected side? I know it hasnt been long since my diagnoses but this is getting exponentially worse by the day.

My wife told me that she did have swelling but does not remember redness. She had knots in her arm, shoulder and upper back that the physical therapist worked on. She also was going weekly to a medical massage therapist and she stated that the massage helped more than anything else. They had problems with the injections because of the knots but massage helped work those out. She also stated that even when sitting in the evening she used a pillow under her arm to keep her shoulder pushed up slightly to keep it from sagging which helped relieve some of the pain. Good luck I know it is difficult and very painful.
