I am considering a pain pump. My Insurance has denied too many times the neurostimulator, but my question is.. With a pain pump... Does your body feel the medication like when you take it orally? I am sick and tired of feeling the medication, and tiredness, and all that comes with oral meds. Could someone please let me know.? thanks God Bless Us All Here.

Hi Misstrish, the delivery method of the medication with a pain pump is completely different it goes directly to the pain receptors. Patients are on a smaller dose with a pump than oral medication. I have read your posts here previously & from what you have posted an implanted pain pump would be my choice over an implanted stimulator. An independent study released last year documented numerous problems people have with them. Several neurosurgeons that participated in the study said that a person that has ever had surgery should never have an implanted stimulator for pain relief.

Ask your dr to get you approved for a trial for a pain pump if you are really interested in one. Insurance companies approve trial & the implantation of a pump, including Medicare. Take care.

Hi misstrish, I got my pain pump implanted in June 2014 and it has been a real Godsend! My pump is implanted on my left side just below my rib cage. The catheter goes from the pump into the upper part of my lumbar spine. And no my body does not feel the effects of the pain medication at all. The pump continuously infuses very very minute quantities of morphine into sthe spinal canal area so it goes directly to the nerve root area where the pain is originating from. Unlike when you take oral pain medications that get disseminated through out your intire body and thus takes....literally takes allot more pain medication to finally have an affect on the originating area of the pain. Not to mention that since it is disseminated throughout your body it can affect your entire body. Thus a person taking oral pain medications might feel tired or sleepy or sluggish, or lighted headed or a host of different things! With the pain pump you don't feel any of that! At least I don't! I just have pain relief!!!

wow.. so many thank you's for everyone that responded to my question about the pump.... I just want OUT.. of this everyday pain, and all the meds my little tiny body gets.... You have answered my question, and Yes, this is what I really need.... I need my life back.... this week I go in for my Permanent Teeth, with 6 implants on the top, and bottom. I sure want teeth back to, cuz it has been over 17 months without any... That is a whole other pain I have been dealing with, as I have severe TMJ pain from no teeth also..... God Bless you All.....

Well misstrish I can definitely relate and empathize with you on your dental problems and missing teeth,!!! I have been going to the UK Dental School for the past 2 years, getting a massive amount of dental work done! From 5 or 6 crowns to a couple of dental bridges! (Both a Permanent one an a removeable one) And every thing in between!!!
Last May they finally finished it all up and it GREAT!!! I now have enough teeth in so I can enjoy a good steak! LOL

Good luck on your teeth implants. After the pain subsides, you are going to love them!

I am scared to death, but I have such severe TMJ pain along with all my neck issues, and nerves are still growing back from a month ago mouth surgery on the bottom.. Now to get all this done, with implants and permanent teeth... God Please get me thro all this pain yet..... Why..... This dentist that did all this to me a year and a half ago, that screwed up implants that needed to be taken out cuz they were bad... Nobody should have had to go thro what I am STILL going thro.....Its so unbearable..... God Please be with US ALL .....Trish
