RE: Zoom Meeting with Malorie and Update
Dear Dr. Schocket:
I hope you, and your staff, are doing well. I am looking forward to the Zoom meeting today with Mallorie
Salazar, Nurse Practitioner, CPI. I have a number of issues I would like to speak with her about
. As I
mentioned in my last letter, I am spending the great majority of my time in Galveston County. I’ve been
ulsing the physicians and services provided by Clear Lake Specialties located in Webster, Texas.
My physicians include:
Dr. Z. Faisal Cheema, Vascular Surgeon
Dr. Nedal Adi, Primary Care
Dr. John Knecht III, Hematologist
Dr. Abdul Moosa, Wound Care
I wish to continue my relationship with you, and Capital Pain Institute, but thinking it might be good to
augment my pain management healthcare with a local physician. What do you think? I’ve never seen
anyone but Capital Pain Institute for pain management.
Regarding the relief I am receiving from the Medtronic pain pump - even with the increase of the bolus to
1.3 mcg there is no relief compared to the oral meds. Thus far any relief I believe all has been
psychosomatic - meaning anticipatory of relief vs. true pain reduction. I’ve been continuing to take my
boluses as scheduled but sort of feel it is a waste of time - I get no relief from the boluses nor the daily
dose of 5 mcg. I don’t want to get the pump removed - but I was hoping for relief and thus far it gives me
none. I’m not trying to be dramatic - but Dr. Cheema’s office is already having prosthetic reps call me
about
their titanium “legs” and thinks I have 18 months before amputation. I want to keep my legs as long
as possible - thus my rather constant focus on pain management.
I am frustrated. If I go to the emergency room they will provide pain relief but force me to stay at the
hospital for 4 to 5 days due to the blood clots I have in both legs. I’d rather go back to the oral meds at this
I have edited the drs information from your post.
