POST ACDF MID BACK MUSCLE SPASM

My first post hope I’m doing this correctly. I had ACDF surgery 6-2-23, C4-C7. I’ve done amazing! Woke with no spasms and had none until 6-16-23. I had also weaned off all meds just prior. I had weakness in ring finger and pinky both hands prior but minimum just noticeable. I did get some pain in the two fingers left hand which I felt were regenerative pain at 7 days and have subsided somewhat. My neck and shoulders are tight, I expect this as well with collar. On 16th I developed a severe spasm left mid back at rib cage. Severe. I spoke with office, they called in prednisone dose pack, and of course back on muscle relaxers. I had slight improvement. Today day 3 of dose pack and the pain is increasing to severe with meds. I’m also noticing more tingling in my hand. I am returning tomorrow for stitch removal. My main symptom from my personal viewpoint was debilitating spasms prior to surgery in area where I am experiencing now. I know I’m early in recovery and need to be patient and yet I’ve never experienced anything like this. Has anyone else experienced similar? Is there anything specific I should speak to Dr about or ask for at appointment tomorrow? Any advice is appreciated. 66 year old female, good health did have SI joint fusion 9 years ago right side complete success no issues since.

Thank you for your reply! With the return of the spasm I have to admit I got pretty anxious! I’m not one who likes to take meds or the way I feel with them. However, I need to remember they do serve a purpose. I have had a better day with the flexeril regularly today. I will keep in touch.

Thank you Susie I will indeed ask for it. I always feel like I have lead weights tied to my legs with muscle relaxers. I’m not one who likes taking meds anyway. I’m doing good recovery wise. My neck has not bothered me at all. Unfortunately I still have the spasms. It is usually just in one spot or another, where as before it would be multiple muscles. I’m not allowed to exercise until my visit with surgeon on the 24th of this month. I am allowed to walk for exercise. I honestly can’t tell though if these spasms are from lack of use and moving wrong or from nerve damage. Just takes time. Thank you for your replies.
