No pain relief after brain surgery

I had a craniotomy to remove a meningioma last week. I had been promised pain relief after saying I knew the hospital has a policy against dilaudid, which is the only drug that works for me. Boy, was I stupid to believe it. Surgeons now give up care of their patients in the hospital.
The "hospitalists" put me on the lowest possible dose PO, which is only 2/5 the lowest IV dose - every 6 hours - for "my safety."

I have staples every 1/4 inch from ear to ear, and holes in my face from the head clamp pins. I have a throbbing headache, tinnitus so bad I can barely hear and dizziness so bad I can't walk. Not to even mention not being able to get lactose and preservative-free food. Gut didn't work for the 5 days.

There are no patient advocates anymore.

I got my son to come get me out of there. Pharmacy was closed, so I came home with no meds.

This morning I woke up with a paralyzed arm. Couldn't pick up my phone. Talking to my computer. Can feel my fingers now.

I thought they had to provide pain relief, but apparently not true.

Wow.

I'm hoping for a complete healing for you.
Pain medication is slowly being phased out and that's barbaric.
I had a total elbow replacement surgery then months later a revision and both times got 14 pills which one I threw out and second one I never filled.. I'm lucky because pain management gives me buprenorphine which works well for my chronic low back syndrome.

I got the staples out a couple of days ago. No pain spray. I ouched and cried through all 2 dozen snaps and jerks. I really hate staples! I should have gone to the ER, any ER.
Pain from the scalp incision and reflection is not going away. Headache deep in my head is not going away. Frequent sharp stabs not stopping. Bruise and big scab on front of my face still there.
I'm back on my tramadol, which at least raises serotonin, but I can't take any NSAIDS yet.
I just saw a photo of the back of my head. The nurse lied when she told me before surgery that the doctor doesn't shave the head. There's a wide strip shaved from ear to ear and a nasty scar that will scare children if I don't wear a hat.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I have come to believe it depends on the hospital and the doctor.

In August 2020, I had to go to the emergency room. I had gastric bleeding from taking NSAIDS for many years. I had to have a blood transfusion in the emergency room. I was admitted for tests. I had read so many horror stories about patients not getting opioids in the hospital. I was afraid to even ask. When I finally asked for something for pain. The nurse apologized and said the doctor ordered the same medication I was prescribed by my pain management doctor at home. I was so grateful.
