Who has had Neurolysis surgery??Pain Meds?Help PLZ??

Have any of you had neurolysis surgery?  I am having trouble controlling the pain during my recovery.  The first time I had the surgery I had hydrocodone and it seemed to work o.k.  I am on hydrocone now and it the nerve pain is going right through the medicine.  I already spoke to my doctor and he will not up the meds or give me more.  It really makes me angry when they just say 2 a day is enough, when I can't even function because I am so miserable.  I have a pain Dr. the one who did the surgery, but he does not prescribe medicine, just my family md.  I don't know how to get comfortable while my nerves are dying and I need to come up with something because I still have another 3-5 weeks before they die.  If any of you have any ideas I greatly appreciate your input.  Thanks for reading.

I talked to his nurse and she basically told me I am expected to just go by the prescription and deal with it, I am affraid I am not strong enough to deal with this without any pain meds. Thank you though I might be able to talk to them again, but she wasn't very helpfull today.

I am really glad that you are back to teaching, I think the kids will definately keep your mind busy.  I think it is good therapy to be so busy, I want to go back to work, but it will be a little while yet.  I am proud of you for fighting through even though it's tough.  I wish you the best and I will be here if you need to vent, I know It makes me feel better.  Hope you have a great week.  Take care and keep on keepin on:)

Hi again, Afloat! Just noticed this note addressed to me, under a different post from you than the one I answered before...too funny! I guess we are becoming good friends & "thinking alike"!

To answer your question about fear of public speaking: it would depend on the grade leve, I would think. I've taught @ the college & high school levels, as well as my current elementary position, & "fear" only entered into the piture while I was teaching college (people are paying $$$ for your courses, etc) but it didn't last long. If you know what you're talking about & are well-prepared, as a good teacher is, you'll have no problem. People want to like their teachers, I've found. Your audience is usualy accepting & friendly---students want to learn & will be quite warm & receptive towards teachers who respect them, make lessons interesting & informative & treat them with kindness & fairness. I've never had a problem & I'm sure you wouldn't either, as you'd be well-trained & in charge of your subject matter. If you have the credentials, it's no more stressful than talking to a group of friends.

Go for it! We aging Boomers will be leaving classrooms in droves over the next few years.....there will be many many jobs aviailable. Teaching is a "calling" & you sound like you've been called! Answer it! :) You'll never be sorry!

I am doing a little better, not trying to take to much meds due to the dr. issues.  I appreciate all of your care an concern.  I think I am going to try one more shot at nursing and if I do not get in, then I will probably finish my degree for teaching.  I am still uncertain, but something is still tugging at me for nursing.  I found a 2-year program at ITT tech and it starts in december, so I am not sure if I will make the cut, if I do, it is meant to be and if not I will go back to iupui and complete my degree there.  I appreciate all the encouragement and I hope you all have a great pain free day:)
