I am in my mid 40's have always been a high anxiety stessed out type person. I don't show it outside but I worry about
things all the time. Well about
3 years ago I decided to lose weight, I was 6' tall and just a tad over 300 lbs. I went on Atkins and started working out again. All went well for about
a year. I don't know what happened. But one morning I woke up with pain in the Groin/Urethra sp??. It became worse over the next 6 months to the point that I was almost bed ridden. My entire abdomen prostate and bladder area were in pain. What was also odd was that the bottom of my feet and my thighs would become very hot almost like the sensation of a hot knife being driven in them.
To date I have stopped all diet and cardio exercise and have gained about 1/2 the weight I took off. Heavy or high cardio exercise seems to bring the problem back. I have also stopped almost all exercise except walking and swimming.
I have been to my primary care doctor many times, two different Urologists , Psychologist, Massage therapist. No one has any answers. I have been on several pain meds for short periods of time but none seem to help. I have been on Cymbalta and other anti depressants but I hate the way they make me feel and they really don't help with the pain.
The pain seems better some days and when it is bad it just leaves me with a horrible burning senstation all day.
I have come to the conclusion that this is all stress related or some kind of uncontrollable muscle spasm because of the way it comes and goes.
I was in last week to my urologist and told him that the only time I felt relief was when I drank quite a bit as in a six pack. I told him I wanted to try muscle relaxants (valium) and a strong anti inflammatory (mobic). I really don't think that drinking at night around the family was that great. Well he suggested I just drink to relieve stress since valium, I guess it very addictive ( of course alcohol it not Ha ha)
My question to the crowd. What type of doctor should I go see to help me with my problem? I am in Ohio so any referrals would be great Thanks in advance.
