Spasms

It seems that lately I am getting spasms all the time. No matter what I do, I end up with spasms from it. I get spasms in my back, hips, legs, feet, my calves, and sometimes even my hands. I hate that!!! I am on Valium and on Soma for the spasms but they aren't helping much anymore. I am frustrated!

I am fairly new to HW.   I read your thread, and I wanted to throw in my two cents worth. If you're looking to switch muscle relaxers, you can try Robaxin.   It's an older med like Soma, but it works really well for me.  

I've been on it and so have family members of mine. All of us got relief from our muscle spasms while on it. When I took it, though, I was taking it in conjunction with narcotic pain meds and an anti-inflammatory.

I've tried Skelaxin as well. It was an OK med for me, but I prefer Robaxin over Skelaxin; especially if sleeping is an issue.  Skelaxin doesn't make you drowsy, which is great for functionality, but if you're trying to sleep at night, its not gonna knock you out.

Skexatin did absolutly nothing for me.

Felxreril is super strong and knocks me out, some people like it.... I hate it. It may stop my spasms but im not awake to realize it.

I am on valium and loratab as well.... with tramadol.

Try taking your valium with your loratab and lay down with a heating pad if you can.... takes my spasms away. It doesnt  work that well if your out and about.... because there is no heating pad.... But if your at home and your get really bad spasms, Heat is awesome for me w/ at least 10mg of valium and a loratab......  hope it works for you as well as it works for me.

When i first tried it, it kinda put me in a awake/sleep haze... but the more often i did it the less of the duration of the "haze" and eventualy i got used to it and was able to stay awake, unless i wanted to sleep.....

Hope the spasms go away......... sometimes those can be the worst part of my CP, because they have the ability to throw my whole back into outrageuos pain.....

Lucia - Hey something I did forget that figurinitout's message reminded me of was the thermacare heat wraps. They work AMAZING for me... they are kinda pricey - but thankfully for us we have a medical flex spending account so we get that money back - I use them anytime I fly anywhere - if you do that though I advice not taking them out of the package, until you are through security - in case they have any doubts. The wraps say they work for 8 hours, but I've had some work for 12-14.

I also had one quick questions - does your doctor know about the ibuprofen? The only reason I'm bringing it up is that it's really hard on your tummy - then when you add in everything else you might be in trouble - do me a favor and at the first sign of chronic heartburn let your doctor know! It might just have been my tummy - but I can't take Ibuprofen anymore as it literally ate a whole in there, it also gave me problems suddenly last year after having stopped taking it and started again - with severe (and I mean severe) mood swings. No one thought I knew what I was talking about, but when I stopped it the mood swings stopped, when I started back on it 2 weeks later thinkiing I'd been crazy - they started right back up again.
