Hi O,
Yes, I am familiar with the MUA and have never heard of someone being put under for it three days in a row. It has always been a one day deal only. If other parts of the body were involved it was scheduled at a much later date. I would run like hell if I were you. The only thing an MUA is good for is someone with a "frozen shoulder". This is something that is pretty typical on some shoulder injuries or post-op. It is done in this case by the orthopedic surgeon, not an anesthesiologist.
Do not let a pain mgt team convince you, you need this done. You could very well end up in worse shape than what you are now permanently. I can assure you for about 2 weeks after having this done, your pain will be so high you wll consider wanting to shoot your dr. You will either remain the same or get worse, you will not get better from this procedure. You have to be put to sleep for this because it is so painful, no human could stand the pain. They get in there and dig and pull and tug, I am sorry, our bodies were not made for that. That is like the Eppy's, they rarely ever help and they are so painful to have. I come from a 20 yr plus experience in many phases of the medical field, I am not a dr or nurse, not a medical professional. I am passing onto to you what orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons have told me about these procedures. I trust their judgment totally. Other than for a frozen shoulder, they called it quackery.
Just my 2 cents. Susie
