hi there & i'm truly sorry for the he** you're facing.
if we were animals...for the most part i think we would all be put out of our misery because it's NOT HUMANE TO BE LEFT TO LIVE IN SEVERE PAIN! makes me mad.
but there are solutions even if they are difficult to come by.
1st...who is the doc NOT treating you pain? a rheummy? a primary doc?
some physicians if they are in a practice w/ many other Dr.'s or if it's a specialty, their scope of practice in what they can RX is limited...so they may not be able to "by office policy" to RX narcotic pain meds.
getting refered to a pain management specialists or an anesthesiologist is a good idea.
also, make a list of every nsaid, OTC & RX medication used to treat the pain you have. be specific as how it did or did not work, for how long & how much of a dose you had to use.
write down what causes or makes the pain worse, what makes it better, etc....
it could be that you'll need a good combo of pain meds whether it's a combo of nsaids, opiates, steroids, injections, patches, SSRI's, etc...
presenting a list i made like that really go the ball rolling & made things more clear for my physicians to see what ype of meds i was responding to.
bless you & best wishes.
