ii feels like i never left this forum, except that the insurance companies are more blatent about practicing medicine without a lisence. 
. based on my experience, you have received some eccellent advice on this thread. if it may help (i owe you chutz, from when i was on this forum about 6 months ago), i will relate my own experience. after i fell down a flight of stairs and hurt my back - noone ever called me "graceful!), i saw a chiropracter who really helped a lot. she referred me to various neurologists and orthopedists for evaluation and for pain meds. i was rxed almost everything in the book, eccept narcodics because my "pain wasn't that bad." I will never figure out how these quacks thought they could get into the pain centers of my brain and do an evaluation. 
after a yearof staying pretty much stationary, my wife and i counted our sheckles and came to the incontrovertial fact that we couldn't pay our taxes let alone our mortgage. eventually we moved to the rio grande valley of texes and have been there for about 10 years. while in texas i was able to get some heal help with pain control. i was rxed ms contin, percs, etc.
i was doing reasonably well, then on a trip to alabama to visit our daughter it hit the fan. i don't know what happened, but my back went south almost overnight (and i don't really like mexico well enough to stay there). as soon as we got to the city where our ydaughter lives i made an apt for pain mgt. i was rxed percs 3x/day. i left the dr's office , took a perc, then had a pain explosion which rated somethere between a 9/10. my wife phoned the pain management dr and he rxed morphine sulphate for pain. so far so good. side effects should surface with in 1 - 4 weeks. PLEASE tell your dr about any side effects. some of them can become life threatening.
