Hello h.w i just happened to run across this site on the Internet and decide to join, i hope everyone had a blessed week...

well a little about me I'm 26, married i have 2 boys, i work in cooperate America and i am battling sickle cell disease s.s.

i was dignoised at 6mths and told i would be dead by 16, and i would never be able to have kids, get married blah blah blah lol I'm a living proof I've done all that and more, as I've gotten older I've gotten sicker but i take the good with the bad life it too short that is my motto, I've almost died twice but made it through by the grace of GOD, i was wondering if there is anyone else o here who suffers from the same disease or knows anyone with sc, i would love to be a motivational speaker for young kids with illnesses, just not sure how to go about it...in the meantime I'm a hard working mom with goal and dreams an aspirations for me and my boys...i look forward to getting to know people on here.

Welcome to the board Ti. I dont know about others here with SC but I have certainly worked with my share of those who had it over the years and the progress we have made in treating this has been great. 40 years ago most of those affected would have died before the age of 16 and alot of it is due to educating those with it to better care forthemselves.

I am glad you have found us here and glad you have gone way past your given date of demise and it looks as though you have had a fulfilling life as well.

As for getting older getting worse well that seems to just be par for the course for all of us and there isnt alot we can do until someone invents agelessness.

Others will stop and welcome you and share a bit and who knows maybe you will run across others with SC but one thing can all relate to hear is the ups and downs of living in pain and living with a disease that never ceases.
