Terrified of Procedure this week

I am having a INJECTION- this week, well tommorrow morning

and I am terrified, almost paralyzed with fear,..

this "hanging over me"

effecting my work, and  home life

the proceedure itself  really scares me, I dont want to feel a thing...

i know what they a e doing & that  bothers me

i have.. pain in lower SI jiont... right side... and  pain back specailist

Dr.  said  this might bring releif... if infact its an injury to that area...

releif  would be his  diagnosis of the problem in the first palce.

 

also new xrays showed change

in  L4 L5 more slippage

and i have been in a lot of pain since NOVEMBER

when I had to go off for 6 weeks...

any ways.. any one

help?

im also depressed

battling  with  overwhelming thoughts

in life  generally

marriage on the rocks..

family giving me stress

we are under huhg fiancial crisis now also due to my being off  so many days...

I cant hold itall togeher any mroe

im shaking even typing this

Shelter, dear! Please don't be afraid! It sounds like you'll have an injection (of steroids I would assume) into your SI joint. I had many of those & if you have a good PM doc, they will give you some "happy juice" (Versed) to help you relax (understatement---you'll be "outta it") and b4 you know it it'll be over. All I ever felt (&I had 9 various injections: SI, facet, epidurals, L4/L5 transverse joints) was a small pin-prick when they do the local injection first, then they make sure the Versed is "working" & do the rest, all under x-ray guidance so there's no mistakes.

Truly, they don't hurt! And some of mine DID give me temporary relief, or at least helped my neurodoc determine what areas were causing the most problems. They are mostly diagnostic, not meant to give much pain relief, altho some people do get good respite for awhile.

Will this be your 1st injection? Maybe that's why you are so apprehensive! I was a wreck b4 my 1st one, but by the 9th one, I was telling THEM what to do! INSIST on some Versed and/or Valuim combo to help you relax. Some PM's will even add some fentanyl to the mix, if you are especially sensitive. But honestly, the whole thing is over in about 10 minutes & perhaps you'll get some relief, which would totally be worth it, no?

I also had slippage (spondy) @ my L4/L5 (which necessitated my recent fusion) and the injections confirmed that as well, b4. So it's just another "hoop" to jump thru in the event you would need further treatments, etc.

I will pray RIGHT NOW that you get some peace this afternoon! and tomorrow Morning I will specifically request that you will be rested, calm & know that the Lord will hold you up on those eagles' wings and SHELTER you!

It'll be OK!! You'll be fine!

I would make sure to ask for xanax to take for 24 hours before any other procedures like this. There is no reason to feel such panic doctors have scripted premeds to help people with this for years and you can ask your doctor for something to help you-I am surprised they didnot offer.
Its probably a little late to get it for this procedure but I would ask next time. And like they said you will get some happy juice.

and no they didnt not give me any thing

although

today at the end of my shift

i had ablinding migrain hit me

so i took two liquid advil, and then after 2 hours  deided on 2 bendryl..

here    in CANADA in our town

the Ermerg   regular  coctail to beat a migrain is

1 bag of IV fuild, with Stymitol, and bendryl

then after 1 1/2 hours they send ya home to sleep

I had xray yesterday

and  tehre is  slipage in L4/ L 5

 I see  the doctor my doctor sent me too MONDAY...

hes was to be teh FIRST doctor...

but Workmans comp  got me in licikty split to see one of "thiers"

i guess

hes a PM docotr and abck pain specialist...

we dont ahve many of them here  in Nova Scotia

any way

I do appreciate...  those who  took the time  to write to me; and offer   such PEACEFUL, pacifying advice...

i might just print off your words...

Whether this has any relevance, There is a song by U2 called "acrobat"...this  song is my mantra, I have no clue to your liking of music, but there is a line in  that song that says ..." don't let the ******s grind you down."  thinkng about all of it..makes sense, at least to me. I'll pray for you throughout the day tomorrow, sending you great healing and comfort from my heart to yours....hang in there, you are to special to us!! and that is a fact.

I am home.... and I first of all want to thank you all for your prayers,

and notes on here

I printed them off and took them with me this morning,

becaue I cant not tolerate, some medications they didnt give me much to" calm" me  he gave me 1/2 dose of     Verese..... and I didnt even feel it take any effect...

he then froze me....

and  I still felt the  Needle, and injection.. pain right down to my knees...

i cried...  aoaked the pillow...

and    by the time I was in recocerery my bumm was frozen...

about 1 hour later.. I felt sleepy.. enrout home and slept for 20 mintues LOL

it took that longggggggggggg to  have an effect onme..

funny....

my butts still frozen.. and   thought itd be good to read posts on here & let you all knwo how I am

Workmans Compensation phoned me at home this afternoon, to ask questions

I ahve missed a lot of Physio appointments I ahve been sick with a flu bug for 2 weeks..

and prior to that I had a cold.. head cold...

piror to that I had a gastro..  vomitting bug...

(I work in anursing home) so I tend to pick up what ever the  resident BUG of the week is...

any way....

Im gona take it easy fora few days....

my family can fend for themselves

opeanut buter sandwiches..

and tea

i find people have distanced themselves from me...  YOU learn who  your real friends are in crisis...

I have one; and he drove me to the appointment...

but we only see him   once every 8 weeks or so...

I dont have a life outside of my work....   Im not able to do much... other than work...

and its a miracle that I can work.. even as much as I am able.. to me any ways...

thankful for small things

like the sunny day today,

and the sound of my teenagers  laughing right now outside the bedroom wall...

nice to know they are happy...

I have much to yet get thru...

I have other  bone, pain issues....

and was injured  at the PHSYIO during  a treatment, and also  during at "SCAN" test to see what I can lift..

my left SI jiont crunched.. and....   well    I knew that side was now  just like the right

maybe I should pray to meet some new friends who ahve simlar lvies, "stuff" going on

but tha those who judged me or condemed or my kids because of our health issues
would Personally understand.. someday somehow...

who ddint have any kids at the time I had 5 under 5

well the day came when she had 4 wee ones,...... and yep

Hi Shelter!

Glad to hear you're home & resting! I'm so sorry you felt so much pain, tho! That SI joint is a deep one---but ice packs tonight will help & hopefully you'll get some relief. It takes awhile---many of my injections' positive effects didn't show up until about the 3-4 day....

You were & are still in my thoughts & prayers! Take it easy now & enjoy the Spring weather---today was lovely here!

Shelter, so glad that it's over and not too too traumatic and I hope it gives u relief. You sound like u feel so much better...God bless

I'm not sure what advice your doc gave you for after the injection, but I used ice off and on for the first 24 hours or so. And definitely don't go out and do any gardening and such! It's best to rest for a couple of days.

I had a wonderful Reflxology Treatmetn WOW!!!!!!!!!!
i'd recomend that to EVERYONE on earth

my body responded.. and the last time I went prior to the Nerve block
I had 5 pain free days

whcih I theink we needa a Seperate forum for..
its a major Immune system disase...

becaue I have it tahts why
my body takes sooo long to freeze, or for medicatiosn to help me...

i dont that the fuild in me to transport teh medication to where its got to go

hence I need to educated my PM doc.. and his anethsis..etist person...

im learning so much


now off to that ice pack.. and lieing down for a while
