Hello all,

After going to 2 doctors in my area and being told I only have some arthritis, ddd and some bulging disks, but nothing major enough to cause me real pain I get some REAL answers!! I got sick of the incompetent docs here so I left the area for a 3rd opinion. I told the new doc were the pain was, which is in my upper back, and he asked why are or were the other doctors looking at my neck so much. I told him that I have been asking the same question!! Well since all my labs were of my neck he ordered an x-ray of my upper back and told me to come back and he would take a look. Not only would he take a look, but it would be the same day! So I got my x-ray and went back up to him. He had a look and found 3 compression fractures in my thoracic area! He then ordered a CT scan to get a better look at them. So he called down to the imaging department and got me squeezed in the same day and told me to come back up after the CT was done. The CT confirmed the fractures, but he couldn't tell the age, so we had to set up a bone density scan and some other test so he can find out just how old the fractures are. He told me that if I had caught this sooner it might have been treatable with a brace, but now he's not sure how we will have to go about treating it. It really ticks me off that the docs here wouldn't listen to me! They more or less said I just wanted the pain meds! So I've been dealing (more like suffering) with this pain for going on 2 years now due to incompetent, in-compassionate and apparently DEAF doctors! Well sorry for the rant... just a little sad, angry and happy!! Hope everyone is doing well!

Wow, that is awesome.  Good for you for not settling on what the idiot docs told you!  Unfortunatly, there are so many of them that just dont listen to their patients.  If you condition doesnt improve or your treatment is more complicated than would have needed to be if caught when you first went for treatment, then the idiot should be paying for it, I would think.

WOW...that's awesome news! I sure can see why you'd be angry and even sad but try not to spend too much time there. Look ahead to the positive changes you've found for yourself. This is a prime example that you have to be on the lookout for yourself. If you don't think what you're hearing is reasonable, then get another opinion.

I really wish some of those Dr.'s would come on here just so they can get an idea of what suffering is induced by their blind self-rightousness. I can't spell and frankly right now I don't care

Hang onto that doc, Mach!! I do think it's important we remember there ARE good doctors out there. It helps not only give us hope, but have just a little bit of perspective when we're struggling to find them!

I feel like screaming "G.D. Doctors"---I mean really!!! SIGH!!

I am glad you found someone who is working WITH you-----OY! The medical professionals---just seem more and more frustrating.......

Hey Mach, that's great news that you finally found a doctor who listens! There are many out there, we just don't hear as much about them.
I hope that you and this new doctor can find a way to treat these fractures and get you back in the game.

Congratulations Mach, on taking the bull by the horns and getting out there and finding a new doc that is more responsive to your needs. Unfortunately, most people sit idley by and get stuck with their doctors. It gives us all a real boost to hear that your continued search paid off. Now as for treatment, I will send up prayers that you will get the proper treatment from here on out and that your pain is diminished.

Thank you all so much for your words!! Many of you deserve some credit for my continued search. I wish I would have found my problems earlier, but now is better than next year. My hope is that it's not to late for non-surgical treatment. Anyone here know much about compression fractures?

No worries I won't stay in the mad/angry place for long!!

Hopefully I can now start to recover emotionally!! I've felt so SH**Y about my use of pain meds thanks to the aforementioned doctors telling me I don't need narcotic meds!! They said I'm too young and I'm not in enough pain to warrant the use of pain meds....

Anyone else who's not getting the answers they need, DON'T GIVE UP!! Keep looking and getting new opinions!!

I suppose I can say that is great news although I feel kind of funny about telling someone that a bad back scan is great! The point is you now have answers and that is what you needed.

I can surely believe that 1 out of 3 Docs were not good and if you looked really close those numbers are probably higher and the reason your words of keep looking mean so much.

Yes there are great Docs out there and I have one as a few others here do to but the search many times is long and trying and that is what is a shame. If I were a Doc and not just a retired nurse I think I would rather give someone relief and find out later they really didnt need it then to walk away leaving someone in pain and find out later they really were!!! I personally think they should treat as though there is something wrong until they know for sure there isnt not vice versa as most of them do.

My Doc gives everyone the benefit of the doubt until all the tests are in to prove otherwise. He thinks giving an addict a few weeks worth of meds in error is better then not giving a true CPer none at all,says it allows him to sleep peacefully at night. Too bad they cant clone him and send at least one of him to every city.

Hang in there and hang on to that Doc!

NVR, I wish there were more people in the medical profession that believe about patient the same as you and your doctor. You are so lucky to have found a good one! Yes please clone him and send him to my doorstep (and everyone elses)! Thanks for letting us know that there are still some good docs out there!
