Kadian and sensitivity to the sun and heat

Opium and all its derivatives can cause heat and light sensitivity. As far as I know, there is nothing you can do about it except stay out of the sun, avoid intense light (wear dark glasses) and cover most of your skin when going outdoors. If you become very sensitive, you'll have to wear heavier clothing outdoors as the Sun's UV light will pass through most light clothing. Luckily I live in Belgium and we have a lot of clouded and rainy days here.

Of course, taken into account the massive amount of medication you take, the sensitivity could have another source. Could also be a reaction to the general degeneration of your body (no offense meant, just a medical statement). Our bodies have priorities, and natural sunblock is not one of them.

I'd lke to finish with a warning. That Ibufrofen 800 mg can cause, in the short and mid-term range, serious stomach and abdominalproblems, and in the long-range kidney trouble.

Anyway, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy yourselves indoors. Further details are unnecessary I think.

Morgoth is absolutely correct as all opiates and their deriviatives can cause problems with the heat and sun. Also correct in the facts re: the Ibuprof,taken along with the robaxin to boot and maybe it isnt the lyrica causing all the upset. I think I would consider adding a stomach prptector such as pepto or mylanta to the mix but hey that wasnt even your question was it? Sorry.

I know that once we find relief and can actually rejoin the living it is difficult to sit out events we enjoy but heat stroke is a very serious matter and if needs to be taken seriously. Many meds can cause this to happen to our bodies but some are far worse then others.

Try going out later in the evening and maybe even swimming using indoor pools or those with at least cover,the Y's usually have such pools and many health clubs as well. Carry a umbrella with you in the sun and while waiting for the bus try to stay in a shaded area if possible. I have in the past used wet wash cloths packed in a zip lock baggy and ice to cool off when I feel I am overheating outdoors. Drink plenty of water!!

Dont laugh at this one as it seems to work! I have a friend who uses those therma care heat things for her pain and she has one that goes to her lower back and it is like a velcro belt thing and has pocket sort of things in it and while she is out in the heat she uses those ice packs like you put in lunch boxes,the ones that are frozen jelly like stuff and are refreezable and puts those in her belt instead of the heated ones. She even keeps a few of those cheap (from the dollar tree) chemical ones used for emergencies in her backpack in case her frozen ones melt before she can get home. This sounds extreme for most but she is on meds that cause overheating as well as she is postmenopausal and the 2 together she says is calls for horrific measures. LOl

If you can wear a straw hat and keeping your head cool helps cool down the rest of your body,sun glasses are for heat as well as shading your eyes and use the higher sun screens if you have to be out in the direct sun and those made for babies are the best!

I take percocet every four hours for pain and I am very sensitive to the sun as well. Despite the fact that I use sunblock, I get red and break out into a rash on my arms whenever I am out in the sun for an hour or so.

As for Kadian, I took one and had a violent reaction with my muscles tightening up, contracting and jerking all night long. I had the side effects for twenty four hours.
