These things happened in ER? Anybody know about this.

The ER was cold last night (To keep down the germ population)

I sweat so much that my whole head of hair dripped.
I dripped sweat on the floor but I was cold.
I was mighty glad I'd taken a shower before going.
My veins collapsed and all the nurses had to dig around for my veins. Terrible!
The skin on my arms turned blue and mottled. (Looked like dead arms. I think)

A tip: Try to keep your hair,finger nails, and toes in the best shape possible. Keep that
polish fresh. Of course, wear good garments inside and out.
Gentlemen: This goes for you too. You can leave the polish off. (Or not. Nuffin wrong
with it. Especially in California, I think.

Pam, I have this terrible problem with excessive sweating. My house stays cold cause of hubby and yet, I sit here with sweat running down my back from my head being soaking wet. This is an every day thing with me. It can be quite embarrassing at times. I have had strangers come up and ask if I am ok. They will see me wiping the sweat with rolled up paper towels. I now carry a roll in my car and a roll in hubbys truck. Drying my hair after a shower is a real challenge. I have a fan sitting in the floor blowing on me while trying to dry it, my hair is very short too. Right now, I have 2 fans in the floor blowing as I type. Its my pain medicine that causes this. Pam and Straydog: Excessive sweating has been a nightmare for me. Everywhere in my home are fans even during the winter months. My wife Barbara is going thru --- i guess hot flashes so She is just as uncomfortable as i am. I have to take numerous vitamins to keep from cramping up-- do You cramp up also, usually its my feet and legs that cramp. Your pain friend tom

Well guys,
I don't think I'll ever know what was wrong with me when I went to the ER that night.
It's like a bad germ blew in and almost blew me outtta this life. It was so weird.
So traumatic.
Anyway, I'm not sweating anymore. Tomorrow I go to the doctor and I suppose that'
will set up a while round of tests.
Isn't it lovely to go from doctor to doctor for tests when you always carrry your
Chronic Pain around with you. It's not fair! Nothing else should go wrong.
I saw a young kid in the store. He was moaning and I could tell it was for reals.
He said his spine was collapsing and he'd just gotten back from the hospital.
I gave him a plastic bag so he could throw up. Nothing else I could do.
A song went through my head ... "And it's raining alllll over the world ..."

Tom, sounds like you may be low in potassium. I have that problem due to the diurects in my BP pills, so I am on a supplement. Also, I stilll get hit from time to time, I eat a banana and that generally knocks it for me. Susie

Lasix is a killer for depleting potassium. I was on a very low dose of Bumex which is much stronger than Lasix, while int he hospitl last year they dried me ou too much and it hit my kidneys and now I see a kidney from time to time.

Excessive sweating can also be the result of severe pain of course, in which case it is quite normal.

Know the feeling Tom, cramps start in my toes, then my feet, legs, then usually my hands and arms. My docs tell me this is normal after a serious accident, guess they know what they're talking about.

Oh dear, read my post and what a mess of things I made. I meant to say, while in the hospital they went over board on the diurectics and caused my kidneys to act up. They brought in a kidney specialist and I get to see him from time to time. Also, before that hospitalization, it appears I passed a kidney stone and I never, never want to do that again unless, I am totally knocked out,lol. One of the most painful things I have ever experienced. guess, I can thank the good old crohns for the kidney stones, thats one of the spin off's of having crohns disease, as if it isn't bad enough. Hmmm ... I wondered if I needed a hand mirror to check to see if I could see MY
kidney. Thank you for clearing that up. : ))
You know, I think I passed a Kidney Stone about 7 weeks ago. It was awful. Horrid.
My urine turned pink and there was something kind of fibrous in it. It wasn't like a
stone - but rather like a stone that got crushed or something.
I'll be going to the Urologist soon. (Maybe) I do NOT want to have a Cystoscopy, but
I think that's the routine thing they do I guess.
Morgoth, I think my excessive sweating was due to severe pain. My lymph gland
under my chin was infected and I had a whole lot of ear wax in my little ears.
Gee, it's just so embassing to go to the hospital. OOOOffff.

Excessive sweating is a big part of my life now. I think I posted somewhere here on another thread about this recently. I do this ALL of the time and I never know when it will hit.

For those in high humidity areas....my salvation has been a pair (yes two) de-humidifiers. One is 70 pints and the other 50 pints. They fill themselves at least twice in a 24 hour period. It's much worse when the rains come. Using these helps change the level of heat that I can handle without feeling so sick (and sweating so bad). Also, air flow (like ceiling fans or other fans) helps even when it is cold to others. I can have one blowing on me. I've checked everywhere and with every Dr I have. Nobody has an answer that is exact. It might be pain/meds/age/hormones/blood sugar/blood pressure...you get the picture.

I just carry a very discrete small cloth in my purse and try to dab before it drips off of my face or neck.....yuck! I guess carrying a cloth is kind of gross, but so is sweating to the point you are dripping when everyone else is cold.
