Dear Palady,
Of course I dont mind that you chime in. I really am glad you care enough to offer your advice. I do have my pain meds locked up as well as heres and what I dont is in my purse that I take with me everywhere I go. She just had a doc appointment today and I went with here and we all had a long talk with the doc.
I understand she needs outpatient as well just havent gotten around to that as of yet with everything else going on. I am hoping to get to that next week. She has only been back with me for a little over a week. I have no problem going with her to any meeting that I can make I deff think that the more you are involved the better for the kids. I am very much a hands on mom.
The soboxone therapy for drug additics I think form what I gathered form the doctor today is somewhat the same as from pain pills. Its the same concept although he did tell me that this is a long term mantaince 6 mths to a yr. I was a bit surpised about that one. I was told by him as well that one of the reasons that they are prescribing them for herion additics now is that it blocks the opiate resptors in the brain so even if they did do the drugs again they dont get high and they would acc. have to stop the suboxone for 5 days for it to get out of the system.
I give them to her everyday 3x a day and watch her take them so that I know. She doesnt get them unless I can see her take them. Plus she has to sign a contact with this doc to get drug tested every month and the first time she shows positive for anything other than what she has been prescribed he wont prescribe her any more and he will contact all the other doc in the area and her name will go on a list. There arent many doc. that are able to prescribe suboxone here in the charleston area. And she had to sign a contract with the pharmacy as well.
So I really hope this will work for her...But I realize all I can do to help her is just love her and give her my support and tuff love. Laid the laws down and if she doesnt follow them then shes out. I know it sound harsh but I know enough to know that you cant help someone who doesnt want to get help and plus I have the younger ones to watch out for as well.
Thanks for the post Palady and you never have to say your sorry for helping or offering up some advice:)
