I don't believe I've been diagnosed with Neuropathy. However, I think I
have it.
The balls of my shoulders, my spine, and especially my tailbone (which
was broken in childbirth) all itch terribly. Sometimes it burns but I thought
that was a result of too much Ben Gay.
I believe I really injured my nerves when I used a hand-held ****su massager
all over my back. I layed on it. I held it hard against my back and around
my neck. I was kind of hysterical when I did this damage to my body.
How I Did I Do The Damage?
Seven years ago, my husband and I moved from the cool coast to a hot,
hot central valley California town. It was 107 degrees the day we moved
and the electricity hadn't been turned on. (Two days, I think) We stayed
in a nasty motel at night and put the furniture in the new house by day.
I hurt myself with the ****su and went to ER.
The doctor there said I needed an immediate MRI. (I didn't get it) I just
went on with the move. It was Hades. He gave me a shot of Demoral
and the next day we signed the papers for buying the house. I kept
falling asleep during the signing.
Oh, I've just run on and on. This is a story never told. There's much
more to the story ...
Mainly I just want to know ... Do you think I have Neuropaty?

I am going to post again. The computer gave me asterisks when I tried to explain the type of massager
I used when I hurt myself. I did not use a "bad" word. I did not use a word with four letters. I tell you
the program that denies certain words is a bad bad speller. I am going to try and explain the type of massager
I used ....... ****SU MASSAGER. I am holding my breath as I push "submit"

Pamela , I have neuropathy  also  it is basically nerve damage . I take neurontin for it . Lyrica is better medication for me but  neurontin works on me .I am sorry to hear about the new diagnosis of neuropathy. I hope you have a low pain day.

When I first got sick, it seems like I got a new diagnosis ever day. (Seven years
ago) I was prescribed Neurontin, so I suppose that means I have Neurorpathy? I haven't
had the world's best doctors.
Sometimes I feel like I just can't keep up with what's happening.

I have neuropathy too Pamela. Sometimes I itch so badly it keeps me awake. But I hurt more than itch, and the pain burns. I had a nerve conduction study done. Mine, I think, is from the back damage I have, or Fibromyalgia, or Crohns. All the above probably. I can't take Lyrica or Neurontin. I have to deal with it.

You got the asteriks because the forum probably is protecting from legal action because of the name brand. I can empathize with you. It oculd be from the massager, but you may have back damage. You should have an MRI and a nerve conduction study done.

Pamela, I don't want to seem calous, but it is very dangerous to diagnose yourself, even for treaned physicians. All pain goes through the nervous system, whether or not such pain originates from nerve damage needs to be assertained by medical examinations. I know the cost of many such examinations is very high in the US, yet there is no real other option. It is not because you were given Neurotin that you have nerve damage as your doctor didn't actually perform any serious tests, basically it was just a gamble. Only an MRI or other detailed tests can determine whether or not there is damage and, if this is the case, to what extend. Trouble is, even if there is nerve damage, the pain can be caused by the damage, by further deterioration of the nerves or even by regeneration.

To be blunt, and I type this as a fellow sufferer, we are wrecks, it would be a miracle if we didn't suffer from pain all over our bodies due to the stress of our injuries and illnesses.

I also think a lot of your pioblems can be solved by serious medical treatment. Curel Tunnel, Prolapse (and the resulting constipation), Bulging Discs can be solved by relative safe surgery.

I should seriously consider getting a good doctors, as this is rather vital.some

Oh, I have been to doctors. (about 30) I have thought of starting a doctor thread to see who can get the prize for having
the worst doctors in attendance. I'm chicken to start it. Someone else would have to do it. : /
I've been to two big name teaching college in California also a group in a ocean-side town that's supposed to have
the best MRI in the world. (or something)
Also I've had 4 MRI's and lots of other tests. It's just that I don't recall any doctor saying "Neuropathy" After reading the responses and
doing a little research, I'm sure I do. It just slipped right by my ears, I guess.
I couldn't use the "L" word. It got asterisked off. ASTERISKED? hmmmm. I sure wouldn't want to get legal action
going by using a name brand. That's interesting. Thanks Stephanie.
Yes, Morgoth I do need good, knowing doctors. I can't find any.

The *** you find in words are because the word you are trying to spell has a naughty word in it.  It is a word censor program to ** out certain words.  The name of the massager is Shiatsu  smilewinkgrin    Take out the a of Shiatsu and what do you have left??  See the connection? Brand names are perfectly acceptable to be named here.

I appreciate the patience you all have given me in my quest for understanding
the "naughty" words.
Now try the "L" word and see if it goes through. If it goes through and
you are embarassed, you can always erase it.

I figured I would post this here.  I really am not sure what it is that is bothering me but it sounds like this could be it.  I am an 18 year old male.  For maybe a month now I started with pain in the fingers and hands and a slight burning/itchy/tingling feeling in the hands and forearm.  Now all these symtoms seem to go off and on and none of them are what I would call "severe."  They also do not seem to have an effect on whether or not I am doing anything.  They are kind of annoying and irritating though so I wanted to make sure it is not anything serious.

as to not bother anyone. (I'm not making this up)
Well, I suffered for all this time and when I finally went to the doc, I found out I had a relatively minor problem
and a medication helped me over it. COMPLETELY.

howdy, what you describe could also very well be carpal tunnel. I have it and that is how it started. It oculd be neuropathy, but I'd get checked for CT first. If so, wearing a brace (braces) could help. Carpal tunnel braces that is. But if you buy one,or two, don't by the department store or cheaper drug store kind. I did and they are no good. I wound up buying some expensive ones ($25.00 ea) at my local medical supply place. The guy helped me out, and they are worth every penny.
