Survived my doc appointment yesterday. Let's make it short and just suffice to say, he's fired! At least my primary doc is great about giving me a different referral if I don't jive with someone he sends me to.

I'm working on slowing down life and it's helping. Thanks so much to the other mods who have taken over my share of the load and the daily chores. I owe you one! tongue

Welcome back Chutz! I am so glad to see you back and in one piece! Great to hear that you are taking your health care into your own hands. Sometimes as CP'ers we have to do this and fire our Pain Docs so that we can find doctors that will work effectively to get the end result that we want.

Sorry you had one of those bad experiences (way too many to count for all of us, right?) with your doc, but glad you reacted so quickly! And super glad you've got your PCP to lean on. Makes a huge difference, right?

Please do take care of yourself, and we'll be here thinking of you and looking for your posts whenever you feel up to it!

And Pamela - I saw the emoticon this tim!!! Whatever you did differently, it worked!

Sorry the appt did not go so well, but I'm glad to hear you survived. So the pcp will refer you to another?? Is that the plan?? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you Chutzie, as always. All is going well on the Chronic Pain Forum but you are very very missed indeed.

Hi all...your comments and concern are so very sweet. It truly helps me get thru the tough times.

I don't have the energy to totally go into the appointment right now but ... how did I fire him??? I just don't make another appointment. It's just that easy. Told him I would consider his recomendations and talk it over with my primary. Did that today and my primary appologized all over the place for the bad experience and is very happy to recomment someone else.

He's such a wonderful doc. Still even makes house calls once a week for those who are "shut in". Two years ago he was named the Family Doc of the Year in our state and we're out here in a small community near a large city. So we have the best doc out in the woods and still have access to 'big city' medicine. That's one of the problems with that darn specialist...he was in the 'big city' and had that attitude. I'm in the process of writing a letter detailing the treatment I received and will be sending it to whomever will be willing to read it. I just can't let that poor of treatment continue. He was so rough with bending and pushing to "see where it hurt" that I felt totally manhandled, among other things.

OK, hands and arms are sore...thanks again for your kind words.

Awe, Chutzie! I know exactly what you mean by "evaluation" that are done roughly and without concern for unnecessary pain. On top of the fact if they just believed what we were saying part of all that bending and twisting and pushing wouldn't be needed. Oh, don't get me started!
