has anyone used seroquel for anxiety, sleep etc.

There was a big right up in our paper the other day on about 20 meds that are under investagtion and seroqel was one of them as well as oxicotin.  The wright up on seroqel was about the side effects causing suicide tendicies in alot of people.  They might be pulling from the market. Altho they didnt say when.

Remember meds like neurontin and lyrica are NOT anti-depressants and may actually cause some depression because they act as CNS depressants. 20mg of prozac is really a fairly low dose, although if the anti-depressants cause increased thoughts of suicide be sure to tell your doc immediately.

I was on 25mg of seroquel specifically for sleep. It was really effective. My only complaint was that if I didn't have enough time to sleep then i was reallllly grogged out the next day. I didn't notice any other real side effects. My only real complaint about it was that when taking it, I had to go lay in bed immediately upon taking it so that as soon as the sedation started to kick in that I would be going to sleep. If I tried to stay up for a bit, then when I did actually lay down to sleep I would get jerking legs or arms. Once I had been taking it for about 2-3 weeks he had me to go 50, and this continued till I was at 100. Which was still a relatively small dose. For most people using it as an anti-psychotic (which is what it is) they're usually dosing at about 300mg or more per day.

The only real reason that I stopped taking it was due to a change of other medications. I switched over to Ambien for sleep and actually love it. It's rather short acting with me so if I only have 6 hours to sleep I'm still okay and don't have to worry about the grogginess. I don't worry about sleep driving anymore. lol

I use Seroquel for BiPolar Disorder.  I'm on 450mg and have been for over a year.  I am also a chronic insomniac and it does work well for helping one sleep at night although most people require much smaller doses than mine.  At the dose I take, it still takes me a few hours to fall asleep, and then I only sleep for 4 or so hours and don't feel drowsy at all the next day.
