There are some pain patients who go to work every day. They raise children.
They drive. They cook, clean, paint, go to parties, cook dinners. It's a miserable
life for them and they are ALWAYS in pain.
But, the thing is - they are ABLE to do these things. I can't.
"The biggest problem an intractible pain patient faces for survival is that a bona fite IP
patent is a rarity among chronic pain patients. Chronic pain, by standard medical
definition, is a pain that is present over 90 days, and which can be continuous or
intermittent. Millions of people have chronic pain. Common arthritis, carpel tunnel,
bunions, and headaches all qualify. However true Intractible Pain, as defined here
is constant, severe, disabling pain , which causes changes in pulse rate, blood pressure
and adrenal hormone production. This form of pain is relatively rare. Control of IP
requires the daily use of prescript
ion medication. I estimate that one IP case
occurs about
every thousand chronic pain patients." Tennant - Intractible Pain
Patient's Handbook for Survival. 2007 (No charge)
It's not understood by many doctors, insurance plans, hospitals, ER's, or family
members. It is sad. It needs to be changed!
I know I'm undermedicated, but there's not much I can do about
it. My doctor
is quite liberal for how things are in California.
I wonder ... How many of us have Intractible Chronic Pain.
Pamela raises both her hands but hurts her shoulder in the process. : - )
I want a decent day tomorrow. I want this pain to subside. I wish the same for
all of ewes too.
