For those of you who have medication lockboxes, where did you get them from? I'd like to look into getting one, but have no idea where to look. I live alone at the moment, but I might be moving in with roommates in the near future, and while I trust them, I don't trust other people who they might let in, so I'd feel much more comfortable if my meds were secured. Thanks!

 I actually use a pistol lock box, purchased at sportsmanwarehouse. They make them using a key or touch pad combination lock, works well for me, keep the key around my neck on chain. The box as most do, allow them to be secured to solid surface. an

Also, walmart sells fireproof lock boxes in various sizes that would work quite well

It's so sad we even have to post things like this, isn't it? But I truly understand the need. Sort of makes me want to cry.

Yes, it is very sad that we have to think of things like this! But unfortunately it is especially important for me to get one if my living situation changes because I am in college and it is sad to say, but a large amount of college students will do just about anything to get drunk or high, and I wouldn't put it past some of them to steal meds. It is really quite disgusting. At least this way it isn't so easy.

Another thing you can use is a small safe box. They are rather cheap in cost but the lock is usually pretty good. The only issue with them is that thier size makes them easy to steal the whole thing. I would get a laptop alarm to lock it with.

I don't blame you at all. I live alone, too, so I don't worry so much, although since reading a lot of stories here I do pay attention when there's a workman or someone around. I don't have much company, so that's not a big deal. But if I moved in with anyone I would do just what you're doing. Even if it wasn't in a college situation, lots of people are tempted to not only take but sell what we need to survive.

I too had to start using a lock box. My step son came to stay with us and in just the two weeks he was here there were tell tell sighns that he had went thru my meds.My husband confronted him and he made up an excuse that he was looking for advil. I know better though because he had used some advil the night before and knew where it was. I always kept my meds in a certain order and they had been moved out of the usual order so thats when i started keeping pain meds locked up.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I found a small lock box online, which looks like it will be decent. I don't think it is heavy though, so someone could walk off with the whole thing, but I couldn't afford the heavy-duty ones. Ekkorose, I love your idea of a laptop alarm, I'm going to look into getting one.

I got mine at Walgreens.  It's a money box that I took the tray out of... You can get them at any store, WalMart has them too.

You can get a lockbox ANYWHERE, office max even.
