Dr.'s and their opinions...

 

 

  Hello all.  I had to go to the ER last night....cut my thumb wide open and needed stitches, anyway.  When I went into the triage area to give info. I of course told them about the meds I take.  No biggie, I wasn't after anything.  So, when the PA finally gets in there to stitch me up she looks at my chart....for a long time..then starts telling me about how she crushed her right leg and had soo many months of PT and about the screws, nuts, bolts, and gaskets....she had put in her leg...How they told her she was never gonna walk again...so on and so forth.

Then she starts ranting about patients that come in here, on all kinds of pain meds, that don't work, and sit around collecting disability.  She then goes on to tell me how she NEVER took NARCOTICS (except after surgery)and that all she took was Motrin. 

I wonder WHY she was saying this to me?  Was she preaching?  Was she trying to tell me that I am a loser that could work if I really wanted too?

You would think that people in the health care industry would understand. It's such a shame that a small minority of people who abuse the meds that we need to function shape how socitey views us.
