I had a bad night on ambien my husband said I was hullacinating through the whole night and saw things that were not there  and it is a side effect from ambien . I finally did settle down and got almost six hours of rest . I hope I dont have a repeat of last night  again tonight. I have been on ambien since  september  and never  acted this way before. I am kinda of scared. I have been trying to have my dr switch me from ambien  to a different sleeping med but he said all he would prescribe me is ambien and elavil which I am on. When I was out of ambien I had some left over trazodone they tried for my sleeping problems and it worked great with no side effects it looks like I will be heading back to the dr and asking him face to face if he will put me back on trazodone. Until then I have to take the ambien  it is better than not having no sleep at all. Im just praying tonight is better than last night. Thanks for listening.

Sorry you had a bad night.

I am on Imovane for a sleeping med and it works well for me. Just a suggestion.

Do you remember the hallucinations? Or did your husband just tell you that you
were hallucinating? I hope they were pleasant.
I woke up at 4am with a stomach ache and stiff neck. Terrible.
Went to bed at midnight. This morning I feel like I have cobwebs
in my head.
I'm really stressed about moving. The expense. All of it.
Sometimes I kinda hallucinate with my medications.
I'll shut my eyes briefly and
see a tree or a flower ~ not threatening but also not real.
I think I need to go to the Anxiety Forum.

Kara,
I'd be sure to make a note of how often this happens and bring it to your doctor. Maybe then he'd be willing to considering something else. It also may depend on if you're doing anything that might endanger you or someone else. Some people have even driven cars and not remembered!

I was on it for a while it done wonders for sleep but it scared me i was in such a deep sleep iam on lunesta it helps me sleep but not so sound Deb

So sorry you had a bad night! That is really scary about the hallucinations!!

I was on trazadone at one point. It works pretty well, at least for me. Although I ended up stopping it when I tried elavil for the pain, and then went back on antidepressants shortly after stopping the elavil. That is the only bad thing about it -- since it is an antidepressant as far as I know you can't take another antidepressant while using it.

I hope you get some sleep tonight & don't run into the same problem!

I have hallucinated. Try drinking a big glass of water b4 bed...don't pee the bed now! Really it helps! Also eat 2 or 3 pcs of bread. GL!

Im thinking of calling my dr and ask him about the trazodone  and tell him what the ambien is doing to me and heard the trazodone has less side effects. I know I need to see a sleep doctor but dont have any insurance and my family dr is all I have. I just dont know what to do anymore it seems like I am becoming immune to ambien and have to take more and more to fall asleep. I am scared.

I've been up since 4 am. I went to bed at 1 am. This happens to me
about ever third night. I do take cat naps and catch up but I just hate
this waking at 4 am. All there is on TV is good golly jolly santa music.

I used to take Xanax and it would put me down to sleep ~ no more.

I don't like any of the regular sleeping pills. They make me feel "funny"

Hi everyone, My dr switched me from ambien to trazodone and Im picking up today from the pharmacy. Maybe I will get better sleep tonight. I did sleep but it was only for 6 1/2 hours dont like the way ambien makes me feel. I hope everyone has a lpd.

6 1/2 hours of sleep would be Heaven for me. Count your blessings.

Pamela I am with you, I would be ecstatic for anything over 4 hours. No one ever believes me when I tell them that I a up somtimes for days. It gets maddening. Kara, I use restoril & I love it. It works well, there is not a "fog" the next day. And it works with my pain meds... maybe ask your dr for some samples to see if anything else works.
