Has anyone tried Relistor??

I just heard about this new medication yesterday. I guess it's meant just for opiod induced constipation. I guess it's made by the med that reverses pain meds, naltrexone, and somehow they made it so it just goes to the intestines and not reverse the pain meds in the rest of the body. I heard it's about $50 a shot of it and I'm very sure my insurance wont pay for it but it might be worth paying out of pocket if it works. I just wanna know if anyone has any experience with it before I pay that much money for it. Thanks.

It says on the websight that it isnt suppose to block the pain meds....are you sure??? Thats why its made JUST for opiod induced constipation without blocking narcotics and causing withdrawals. I guess aot of people reduce their narcotics just cause of the constipation and this med is suppose to make it so you can take your high doses of pain meds and reduce the constipation....I read the websight backwards and forward and nowhere does it state it blocking the pain meds. they make it somehow with it not crossing the blood brain barrier.Thats why I'm so excited about htis new med.

well, i live in tampa, fl- this place has a lot of medical studies. I can say I saw one study looking for people who were currently on strong medications like oxycontin, kadian, patches, etc (maybe the ER meds) for clinical trials in people with severe/chronic constipation. This was at least 6 months ago. Usually when they advertise on TV its in the final phases. So hopefully there will be something coming out soon to help us. I almost volunteered, I have never done anything like that. (Also, there is something for fibromyalgia being studied too) But I don't know that I can commit to going someplace at a specific time. You know how it is, sometimes it takes hours to get the pain down enough to get moving. Just thought I would let y'all know something is on its way.
