Need a question answered from someone who has had a spinal stimulator put in.

In order to be informed on all aspects of the process of this stimulator being placed I need a couple of questions answered. I understand that I have to be off of all my medications before the Stimulator is placed inside of me. Is that for the trial as well? And if so how do they take you off of the medications? The reason I am wondering this is because as you all know I have been on these pain medications for the past 4 years and I am a little worried that the withdrawals are going to be so harsh that I am not going to be able to handle it. Will they place me in the hospital to take me off of the meds or will they decrease me slowly or just take me off all at once?

I will ask my doc for some answers as well when I see her the next visit and see what she has to say as well. I do know that if WC ok's the Stimulator it will be sometime next year before I get the trial let alone the real thing so I have awhile to get ready for this but I want to be prepared for this.
