Hi ekkorose,
So sorry to hear about
your increase pain & diagnosis! How rotten to learn about
it on Christmas Eve! I've never had kidney stones, but I hear that they are very painful (which it sounds like you know all too well). Did the doctors say whether they thought that they would pass or you would have to have surgery? Could you call your pain doctor (after Christmas, unfortunately) and ask if you could take some more meds temporarily while you deal with the stones? Or maybe your pain doctor has someone on call that you could get ahold of? What poor timing
.
The only thing I can suggest is to take it easy. Take a hot bath, use a heating pad & just try to ride it out. I wish I had something more to offer! If you do have to pass the stones, then maybe try to eat & drink acidifying foods. That might help to break down the stones a little. Just a thought. I don't know if that would work, but I have a cat who had stones (although they were in his urethra, not kidney) & even though he had to have surgery & everything, he has a very high risk of having them again, so the vet put him on an acidic diet which will help to prevent the formation of stones and break down any which do form.
I hope you start feeling better soon & find a way to have a very Merry Christmas, despite your increased pain. Sending you warm thoughts & prayers.
Skeye
