buring mouth and neruntin (gabapentin)

i have had burning mouth for 8 months now,i had dental implants 2 years ago , after my surgery i had lost my taste for 6 months after that is when the burning mouth started, i have been to many different doctors with no answers, i finally went to a neurologist who listened to me, he perscribed gabapentin.I would like to know if any one out there has taken this medacation for burning mouth and if so how did it effect them, i have only been on it for a few days. i have a cold right know which has effected my taste, which has also calmed down my burning mouth.my doctor says burning mouth is caused by nerves in your brain.would like to hear from anyone taking this med.

Welcome to the CP forum of Healing Well. So sorry to learn of your problems. I take neurontin (gabapentin) but it's for the symptoms in my feet. Someone was posting here not too long ago who had burning mouth syndrome (I think it's called that) and she finally found some relief with a dentist (I think). I can't recall all the details. Maybe someone with more info. on this will post, but you can search the older threads on this forum and see if you can find those posts. They may be helpful.
