I'll bring some grape juice! loll I actually have a bottle of MonaVie in the fridge. It takes me forever to drink one glass Maybe I will invent a movie theater for the chronically ill/pain persons. Nice fluffy pillows so we can all stretch out. Masseuses to help us relax, and a good looking set of boy/girl bartenders for making "mock-tails". Yum! We just need to decide on a first movie?..

Can I get some of those glasses like Jack Nicholson wore in The Bucket List? Looks like you can stay lying down (of course, with excellent cervical and lumbar supports and a massage therapist at my side) and watch the movie. smurf

Maybe we can use The Bird Cage as a warm up movie since it made a lot of us laugh? Of course, we'd need at least a double feature! smilewinkgrin

Maybe that's why I could never sit through "Interview" when I'd catch a piece of it on tv. Totally confused. Course watching it from beginning to end might help! rolleyes

The bits and pieces of Interview that I've seen seemed deep and dark more than blood and gore, but then again, this isn't my area!!

Has anyone seen Marley & Me? My cousin is trying to decide whether to take her 5 & 7 year old. It's PG. Does anything bad or sad happen to the dog?? I'm still crying over Bambi's mother and Old Yeller! But I loved Turner & Hooch! (This is not your room!)

so maybe not a good small kid flick...There's new movie coming out maybe more
approriate called "Bedtime Stories" wait for that one...

As for "Interview with a Vampire" Has some Renaissance Era scenes hence

I'm not familiar with Marley & Me but the review I read said bring plenty of tissues.

There used to be a movie theater in my neighborhood that had actual Laz-E-Boy recliners in the front rows and off to the side. They would take your food and drink order and bring it right to your table. It was a second run theater so it was cheap. It was great. I'd always go early to get a comfy seat.
Unfortunately, they knocked it down and turned it into a WalMart quite a few years ago.

A good vampire series to Netflix is "Forever Knight".

There was a theater in Monterey, CA that had big pillows on the floor. One could
actually cuddle up to a pillow and watch the movie. It was called The Dream Theater.
I went to it a couple of times (and took my kids!!) Now looking back I think I must
have been crazier.
Sheesh ... There could have been lice and ... and ... who knows what on those
pillows! They didn't always show movies that were suitable for kids.
So anyway when we fix up our movie house, we must take sanitation into
consideration.
You guys and your Vampires ... I don't know the first thing about them! (I sure
laughed though)
Now kttn ... just WHAT are we planning to put into those mocktails. None of us
can drink alcoholic beverages ... so what? Huh?
I went out with some people the other night and didn't know what to order so
I ordered a Shirley Temple. (Last time I had one of those I was about eight)

Sanitation - good one. I presumed each of us will have brand new and our very own couches, pillows, etc. yeah

I think I want some coconut in my mocktail. And something that tastes yummy with coconut. Hmm...gotta think about that one. idea

I don't know much about vampires either, but the lead character in True Blood is pretty cute. Bill. And figuring out all these vampire "rules" seems kinda fun! smhair

I agree, that movie theather that you went to sounds like fun it it wasn't for the germs. I always seem to get sick after going to the movie theather (maybe that's why I never go!) shakehead. And I laughed when I read that about the Shirley Temple. They are good though! smilewinkgrin

My mother wants me to go see Marley & Me with her this weekend. We're huge dog people! :-) She's read the book, I haven't. I do remember her crying at the end of the book. I don't want to spoil the ending, but I do think the dog dies at the end (I don't think that it is a traumatic death though). cry I don't think I'm going to get to go though, because I'm probably going to this big conference with a prof that I work for to present some of my work. I'm still trying to decide whether or not to go. I want to, but I've been having such a hard time lately...
And I agree, Bambi was so sad in the beginning! Hopefully Marley & Me isn't too bad. I hate sad movies too (especially when animals die)!

You've got to try your hardest to do that presentation! Put all the stuff about the computer problems and lost work aside (in your mind as well as literally!) and go do this. Opportunities for you do this with a prof. don't come around that often, especially when you're just starting out. It could make up for a lot of other things in the future!

Go for it!!

Thanks PAlady & Char! I know that this is an amazing opportunity! I've already had the honor to be published several times with him (I've worked with him for two years & two summers so far). PAlady, since you've taught at the college level, I'm sure you know how rare this is for an undergrad! But this will be the first conference I've been to other than our biannual science research symposiums at school (the other professional conference was international & the school wouldn't pay for me to go cry). The research opportunities were one of the reasons I came to this school & this is one of my largest motivators to stay in school! I know I'm going to have a hard time leaving this lab when I graduate, which, if I don't take time off, is coming faster that I'd sometimes like to think. I'll make the final decision tomorrow, but I think I'm going! :-)

Although I do think I'm going to have to bring this 20+ page paper & the rest of my icky work with me, as the hotel has free wireless internet turn. And at least it's a several hour car ride there & and I got out of driving b/c of my eye, so hopefully I can knock out at least one of my books on tape that I need to "read."
Or then again, maybe I will just rent one of these vampire movies to watch on my computer or ipod, since I got a itunes gift card for Christmas... ideayeah

But if I go, I AM going to ENJOY myself while I'm there! :-)
I'm going to talk my eye into behaving itself if a couple of days devil nono.

I have read the book Marley & Me...... if you are a pet lover, especially if you have had dogs, if it stays true to the book you will love it. The body is basically a writer in Fl used to write a column & would often talk about his dog Marley. This dog is the as they say in the book the "worst dog in the world". This dog does the funniest things, you will laugh yourself silly..... and if it sticks true to the book, then yes the ending is sad. But a happy sad. Its a great book. There is a sequal out to it, I haven't read it yet but I'm sure its just as quirky as the first one. The were both number 1 for a very long time. Let me know if you see it, I am wanting to see it too. Have fun!
And I am a germaphobe too, so those comfy pillows are magical, they have no germs! lol. Everyone can lie there comfortably & we can watch a marathon of movies..... maybe a co-ed pajama party. Not the creepy pajama party, but like you would have as a kid. We can eat cookie dough, popcorn, pizza, grape juice (lol) & what ever else we want to bring! The food is no weight gain since the pillows are magical, lets make the whole theater magical....... whopee!!!

Oh and as for the "mocktails" I used to be a bartender so I know how to make a virgin anything. I'm up for a pina coloda. I also know a good one thats pineapple juice, oj, sprite and grenadine, its really good. There are a lot of options!

PAlady, have you tried the V8 smoothies? There is one thats pina coloda-ish. It so yummy. They are kinda hard to find, usually I stockpile them at WalMart. They don't taste yucky like the other V8 drinks. I love them, I go through probably half a bottle every day. I think they are so yummy. You will like it if you like pineapply-coconut stuff. Which is my fave.... just a suggetion. I think they are yummy.
