Thanks PaLady...I'm going to call the doctor now. I'll try to give an update if I'm feeling up to it.

PaLady, sorry it took so long to get back to you about my bad reaction to Oxycontin. I called the pharmacist and he said I should take some Advill along with the Oxycontin and that should help. I did that and the involuntary arm movements ceased. My pain is somewhat improved with 40 MG, but it's still bad at times. I'm hoping he will increase me to 80 mg. Also, I'll be having my first radio frequency Feb 25th so maybe that will help. How have you been feeling?

I take 80mg and its a great improvement...... but I also hear a lot of grief from other drs over it..... just be warned. The price we pay.

kttn, what grief are you talking about? From doctors who aren't in pain themselves and don't know what it feels like to be in pain all the time? I've had plenty of that over the years. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm curious. For all of you who are taking Oxycontin, do you take them 2 or 3 times daily?

Hi drjimmy,

I was on oxycontin in the past, but had to stop it because I had a pretty bad reaction to it. I was initially started at 2X/day, but then switched to 3X/day, because it only seemed to help me for 7 or 8 hrs, not the full 12 that it is said to work for. From what I've heard from other people & my docs, this is a pretty common finding, but it really depends on the your body's response, as everyone responds so differently to medications.

 I was so scared to take oxycontin ,still dislike taking  it ,but I'm in so much pain Ihave no other choice! Iagree it seems to work for only 7or8 hrs not 12.Ialso have had people ?why? those people have no pain and Ino longer tell anyone except dr. Istarted on 20 than 40 ,I  find I'm still in pain but its manageable ,if I take 60 aday ,sometimes 80,if i have too.Iwill be getting surgery soon for thoracic outlet syndrome ,the most dibilitating pain Iever had ,I also have had involitary spazms,due to medication.Its great to have this site its amazing what you can learn from others,sure makes me feel better to know others can understand and have  similar experiences .Pain  is so hard to dealwith day after day.

 hi ,I am new to this group and glad I found it !I also read the rules ect. Its good to know others who may understand what your experiencing.Ihave thorcic outlet syndrom most painful thing Iever experienced ,somedays I dont get up for long as everytime I move my arm hurts ,or ice cold hand or cramps ,its nasty.Lucky I'm going for surgery soon!Till then Ifeel my life is on hold .Pain meds help manage but also make me tired.I was a very active person now all that changed.Last time Idrove my car ,I had a huge cramp ended up going in wrong lane!So I stay home alot and restrict most activies due to pain.
