I want my pain pump!!! & whats up with oxycontin $$$'s?

so i went to the dr today and was asked at sign in "shannon, have you had your pain pump trial yet? we need verification from your insurance" i thought "this is finally about to happen" well i got the full lecture from the dr in regards to the pump itself.... the dr did a great job explaining it to me. but then at check out i heard, "we are waiting for approval" uggggggh,,,,,,,,,, what a tease! i just want to get this thing done. why does insurance have to be such a pain in the rump? i am glad i have it, but my gosh just give me some good news for once. and then when i went to have my oxycontin filled -the regular price (non-insurance) was $1465...... what??? has anyone else noticed a spike in oxycontin costs? unreal. hope you guys are having a better day than me.

At the time of my implant, within 7 days my insurance was changing to another plan that gives drs a hard time on approving pumps. My pain mgt dr himself actually got on the phone in one call and got me approved before the switch in ins took effect. I did my trial in one day and he was on that phone getting it approved. I am so glad that he took the extra effort himself in getting this done knowing we were getting close to the wire. Kttn another thing you have to remember is who ever does their approvals in that office , how effecient is the person that handles this particular job there. I would give them a couple more days then I would be calling whoever and asking if they have started working on getting you approved for the trial....Susie
