Pancreatitis

Does anyone here have experience with pancreatitis? I have had upper left sided pain and some centered burning for over a month now. My lipase was just slightly elevated for a couple wks (just re took it so will get new results this wk) and ca 19 (which is a tumor marker for pancancer-however, pancreatitis and other things can cause an elevation)

I am terrified as my dad died of pancancer, and I am scared I have it. I had an ab US, EUS and CT (though Ct was in er so not sure how well it was read)-all clear.

Any feedback on this appreciated...

Have you had an ERCP?? if not, then you should ask for one (Of course from a GI doctor), ERCPs are like upper scopes but the camera is much much smaller and they can actually put in through the ducts of your pancreas and see whats going on. I've had 2, the first one they diagnosed the pancreatic divisum, just like a scope, you go home afterwards. But with my 2nd one they where just gonna do the same simple procedure, but the doctor decided half way through, to call up my father and get permission to do minor surgery, and he put a stent in my pancreas. Also I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Divisum, which is something your born with that 10% of the population has, but only a very few ever have issues with it, which of course includes pancreatitas, but also can cause severe pain. Also remember that quite often you can still have pancreatitas even if your blood tests come back normal, actually it's very common, I've had that happen countless times to me. And also scans wont always pick up whats going on with your pancreas, they did a MRI of my stomach, and said my pancreas look normal, but they didnt find my problem til they did the ERCP. So if I where you, I wouldnt count too much on blood tests because you could still have pancreatitas, but you wont know whats going on til they actually go and look inside. Are you sure it's not your gallbladder (if you still have one) thats having problems and may have passed a stone that got stuck in the pancreas and caused it to flare?? Because that is also something that happens alot. And gallstones and pancreatitas feels exactly the same to me, so thats something else to look into to, and they can diagnose that with an ultrasound. Well no matter what, I hope you get it figured out, because I know how much pain your in, and I really feel so sorry for you, cause that hurts like crazy, maybe the worst thing I have ever felt. Also you should defiently get a Gastro Doctor if you dont have one yet because they specialize in just those type of things.
