Vickie, welcome to the best support group there is for those suffering chronic pain. I to wanted to wait to have surgery. I waited 11 years. My doctors bact then were not very optimistic that surgery would solve the problem with back pain and the leg/foot pain so I waited. You are right by checking with your doctor if the pain is increasing. Checking with her and even a consult with a neurosurgeon is an option. You still would not have to have surgery even if the neurosurgeon suggests it. I told a doctor once that I knew the pain was all in my head. I advised him that the nerves send the signal to brain which tells us that we are in pain. I then asked him why he did not learn that in med school. As you can guess, he and I did not have a very long relationship.Keep looking for a good pain management specialist, there are some good ones around.
